The North Bridge Inn (NBI) is one of those rare places where a visitor can experience 'pub life in a way that is normally only open to people who live in a community for a fairly long time. This is a place that serves as a community centre; where good conversations just happen; where visitors and newcomers blend in and feel that they belong.
I have never eaten here, although posters proclaim that they offer a "lazy Sunday lunch" at four in the afternoon (!), and the menu looks very tempting. I can pay tribute to the high quality of the drinks: they offer a selection of real ales that are stored and served with care and always reach the drinker in peak condition, as well as various local ciders. In the depths of winter "mulled cider" makes a warming change.
I should also mention that events take place here: I recall one outstanding performance of 'trad' jazz, while up-and-coming musicians and entertainers sometimes hone their skills with the audience here.
