“Room request didn't get through, but they have the lovely Harriet at this hotel, so all was well.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 October 2013

So first off, Thanks Harriet - You're a little star, excellent customer service! :-)

We really like this hotel. As others have said, it could do with a refurb, but it is OK.

The main thing we like is the courtyard style. You step from your room to the corridor, from the corridor to the car. This is particularly convenient if, like me, you smoke! Room 7 for example is directly opposite the external door, so a cigarette is 4 steps away!

OK standard moan for every Premier Inn stay - The Wifi is a rip off at £3 (First half hour free), You don't expect me to shovel coins in my shower, The wifi should be free.
As it happens, this hotel has excellent 3G coverage, at least on O2 it does!
Why do you inconvenience and put to expense your customers with 0871 phone numbers? It's so old fashioned, get with the 21st century - The geographic phone number for this hotel is: 01392 428000 Advertise it! The email address (Which they also don't like divulging) is exeter.pi@premierinn.com

I notice many other people praising the breakfast. I agree it is excellent value at £8.25 IF you eat a lot or have a couple of kids in tow - Kids eat free. It's not that great though, if like me, you don't want much more than a bacon sandwich and a cup of tea, perhaps Premier inn might want to consider that.

My star rating is based on -1 for the 0871 number and the Wifi, But Harriet won that back, so 5/5

Slightly different layout to most Premier Inns. Think this hotel must have been a different brand of hotel in the past as all the rooms are arranged around a courtyard which now serves a a car park. This has the added bonus in that the access to rooms is from the car park making moving luggage a bit easier. The quality of the hotel is up to the standard of most Premier Inns with the same layout and facilities. As usual everything is clean, functional and practical so no complaints on that front. One downside was the tendency for these hotels to remove the standard 'bucket' seats from rooms and my room indeed only had a desk chair. I mentioned that my room had no 'armchair' and the receptionist provided me with a chair within 10 minutes so complements for the excellent service, but please Premier Inn stop removing the bucket chairs!

Place was easy to find, motel style but only needs updating on the outside but the rooms are lovely on the inside. Beds comfy and lots of room. Had the meal deal, evening meal was amazing. Couldn't fault anything, me and my partner even managed to get a drink of strongbow instead of the other choice of drinks on the meal deal menu.
Only bad points was other people staying here, 3am is apparently an appropriate time to come back to your room shouting and making as much noise as you can!
Also the breakfast wasn't as organised as it should be, English breakfast was lovely but it had run out of crumpets, muffins, cups, juice and bread by the time we got there! This was refunded when said about it at reception.
But all in all a lovely stay

Booked this as a stop off on the way home from Cornwall after a day at the Eden Project. Booked the meal deal too. Our room was an end one on its own (45) and was huge. We could have had a party with 30 guests and there would still have been room to spare!! Very clean.

Dinner was excellent and very tasty and filling although got given the wrong choice at first!

Breakfast was also very good although the staff seemed a bit rushed - perhaps there should have been another couple of them on duty.

Reception and booking in was very simple and helpful. Had booked our meal time but arrived 2 hours earlier than expected and they were happy to accommodate this. Had keys to the outside doors so didn't have to walk all the way through from reception each time and it also meant we felt secure as the public could not enter the corridors where the rooms were.

Room Tip: Room 45 is on a corner and on it's own - no neigbours above or next door and is absolutely huge...

Stayed here for one night whilst visiting relatives in the area. The hotel room was very clean and tidy on arrival , we had prebooked and check-in was straight forward. The room contained all we required including a choice of pillows .... hard or soft. The price was £90 which has to be a top-end price for this type of hotel.
Would use this hotel if in the area again.

I had to shower in flip flops because the bath had not been cleaned and there was stench coming up from the plug hole; the staff did not come to clean it even though I reported it. The breakfast staff on the other hand were just great and helped me loads, if only they worked on the hotel team!

Totally different room, same good quality experience as before - cannot recommend this place too highly for a base in the area. Go to Darts Farm for your breakfast NOT the pub as a far superior breakfast can be had for less money.
