“An old Hotel !”
Reviewed 21 November 2013

This is the first time I have stayed in this hotel . The appearance when you arrive does not impress you it is old fashioned built horse shoe fashioned around a courtyard I thought what have I let myself in for here ! Don't be dissalusioned this is a very good hotel ,very clean ,very good staff , lovely and warm nice old fashioned radiators and heated towel rail and lovely and quiet what more could you wish for ?i had left something in the previous hotel in Torquay I told the young lady in reception she immediately phoned them and arranged to have it posted to me and yes when I arrived home the parcel was waiting for me ,that is good service for you !
The beafeater restaurant was also old fashioned but also excellent .e

Room Tip: NO SWIMMINGPOOL. I would think all the rooms would be the same

Once again, a lovely stay in a Premier Inn. All the staff as helpful here as all the rest. It still has those lovely radiators that you can adjust and a fantastic towel rail that warms your towel when you come out of the shower. Good food and helpful waitresses a cracking stay and you don't have to pay for parking as you do in the centre of Exeter.

Room Tip: Nearly all rooms are on the ground floor and have easy access but some are upstairs

I stayed in this hotel last week for a business stay.

As you would expect with Premier Inns the room was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was again clean but the shower was a little under powered and a strange buzzing sound which I presume was a water pump on its way out could be heard (this would explain the low pressure).

The exterior of the hotel is a little tired and car parking can be tight if you arrive later in the evening.

I also had dinner and breakfast at the pub/restaurant. Breakfast was gorgeous and there was plenty of choice with a cheerful waitress, one morning I had to "grab and go" and she kindly offered to make me a quick bacon sandwich to save waiting for a fully cooked breakfast (great customer service). Dinner was also nice but sometimes service was a little slow on their busier periods.

The great thing with Premier Inns is you know what to expect, clean, comfortable rooms with a half decent pub attached, perfect for somewhere to stay when on the road for business.

Stayed at Countess Wear Prem Inn on a short motorcycling break to Dartmoor region. On the outside it looks a bit run down, bit like an old pub that was struggling but once inside you'll find the usual excellent rooms and the stand out factor for me for this particular Prem Inn is the excellent staff.....very helpful. Great bar and restaurant areas with a nice buzz about the place. Highly recommended.

Arrived at 2pm on Sunday October 6th for an overnight stay.
As usual the staff were very friendly and helpful, Had to borrow an alarm clock as we had to be up at 3 a.m. to get to the airport,
Wonderful meals in the restaurant and very friendly waitress. Food was suitable as I am diabetic and a vegetarian. Well cooked and presented. We have often stayed here and would recommend this Premier Inn

Room Tip: Book early to get a nice discount, very quiet and very clean and comfortable

Stayed here as part of a business trip. The thing I like about the purple palace is you know what to expect. Check in was smooth room was typical bed was comfy and pillows were amazing what more do you need? Had a meal in restaurant/pub attached and that was very nice also. A added bonus if you need petrol/fuel there is a shell garage right opposite the inn so handy!

So first off, Thanks Harriet - You're a little star, excellent customer service! :-)

We really like this hotel. As others have said, it could do with a refurb, but it is OK.

The main thing we like is the courtyard style. You step from your room to the corridor, from the corridor to the car. This is particularly convenient if, like me, you smoke! Room 7 for example is directly opposite the external door, so a cigarette is 4 steps away!

OK standard moan for every Premier Inn stay - The Wifi is a rip off at £3 (First half hour free), You don't expect me to shovel coins in my shower, The wifi should be free.
As it happens, this hotel has excellent 3G coverage, at least on O2 it does!
Why do you inconvenience and put to expense your customers with 0871 phone numbers? It's so old fashioned, get with the 21st century - The geographic phone number for this hotel is: 01392 428000 Advertise it! The email address (Which they also don't like divulging) is exeter.pi@premierinn.com

I notice many other people praising the breakfast. I agree it is excellent value at £8.25 IF you eat a lot or have a couple of kids in tow - Kids eat free. It's not that great though, if like me, you don't want much more than a bacon sandwich and a cup of tea, perhaps Premier inn might want to consider that.

My star rating is based on -1 for the 0871 number and the Wifi, But Harriet won that back, so 5/5
