This was our first visit having driven past on many occasions we were given a friendly welcome when we entered with an extensive choice of seating with three open fires/wood burners.
The choice of food caters for a wide range of palettes and the portions are generous. The Otter Ale pie was full of lean steak and the battered fish was very fresh, both with home made chips.
Desserts were also great and we were left full to bursting.
The staff were very polite and this is certainly a place to visit and take your friends.

My partner and I came for an evening meal (Saturday) during a weekend trip to Exeter. The pub/restaurant was atmospheric, friendly, warm, spacious and cosy; the service was very good and the food was delicious with generous portions - we didn't have any space left for a desert.

The Ley Arms, great atmosphere, great staff, just a shame about the meal, I came with my family, I had a steak and chips, asked for it medium rare, came out very well done. Also had soggy chips and cold roasted tomatoes. But it is definitely worth the trip, the location is lovely, and the atmosphere, as I said was great too, just more of a bar than a restaurant at the moment, but has potential!

Visited with family from South Africa for lunch, we all found the food ok but nothing special.
There where six adults and two children and the table reserved for us was two tables pushed together and the chairs at the two ends of the tables had no leg space as it was one solid leg.
We looked and found our own tables, not two meters away, this was the first negative thing.

We ordered and found the food to be just every day pub food at a premium price.
We all found the place to lack atmosphere, it had little caricature, it was like a lot of small room all knocked into together with little thought.

We will not be going back.

Our family outing ranged in age from 2 years to 65 years old. The pub was quiet as we were early for lunch, but there was only a brief wait to be served with 6 different meals. Service was very efficient and friendly and the food was lovely! All of us would recommend the Ley Arms and we will certainly return.
