“Delightful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2014

We stayed overnight on a trip to Devon visiting relatives in the area. It was a delight to use this hotel; their motto of "easy to find, hard to leave" sums it up.
We booked by email and replies came without delay - unlike some places where you are left wondering whether the message was received. Their website is also easy to use.
We arrived early evening, were welcomed immediately by name and showed up to our room. We stayed in Mr Toad's room and on walking in it had the "wow" factor. large, bright and beautifully furnished.
After a short stroll around the village we had an excellent dinner before retiring to the comfortable bed.
Breakfast was good and after paying what we thought a reasonable sum for the dinner, bed and breakfast deal we were leaving when we met the owner who was keen to hear our thoughts.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay; lovely building, good food and drink, and very importantly, welcoming and friendly staff.
We would go again and recommend it without hesitation

Called at the Lazy Toad for lunch having read the reviews on here and have to say in no way were we disappointed. We were met by a friendly spaniel in the car park and on walking into the bar greeted by the very friendly landlord, Clive who introduced himself and his staff and asked our names - a nice touch that we've never had before when just having lunch somewhere. Lunch itself was faultless as was the service - nothing was too much trouble. The food was first class - my husband thoroughly enjoyed his three courses - he couldn't find fault with anything - and the trio of citrus desserts for me was the best sweet I've ever had. We have already said that next time we're down that way we will stop for a night or two - I'm sure we won't be disappointed.

Just spent an absolutely super weekend here. One of the nicest meals I have ever enjoyed anywhere. Very comfortable spacious room and no UHT milk in sight. ( My sort of place). Lovely touches; home baked biscuits; thermos of fresh milk. Will definitely visit again. Thanks so much.

Room Tip: The Lazy Toad has two dog friendly rooms; one of which I used with my little westie. Own entrance an...

This is the second time we have stayed at The Lazy Toad. This time we stayed in the Toady room. This is a beautiful bright room with a large bathroom and ample of hot piping water. The bed was very comfortable and after a fine nights sleep we were ready for a good breakfast. The home made biscuits are an extra surprise to have with our cup of tea. The breakfast was a delight as usual. We will be returning,as this is so convenient when we visit our son who is at Exeter University. We did not have our evening meal here this time as our son wanted to take us to a restaurant in Exeter. Unfortunately we had trouble parking and couldn't get into the restaurant of his choice. Next time we will book DBB, as when we ate here before it was delicious.

Lovely old inn in rural setting with friendly but unintrusive staff. Excellent rooms, well kept ales and interesting wine list. Go for the all in dinner, B&B option as this is excellent value, and the food is tremendous.

Two friends and I stayed for one night for a reunion. The management and staff could not have been more accomodating. The location is quiet and peaceful with excellent rooms and first class food.

A special thanks to Bev who looked after us famously.

My husband and I stayed here overnight to celebrate our birthdays.
Our room was lovely, well decorated and very comfortable.
We were made welcome at dinner by Clive the owner.
Our meals were very nice but a little on the pricey side.
We booked dinner bed and breakfast so hoped for a hearty breakfast. Although the staff were very attentive and would replenish where required, the cooked breakfast was disappointingly small.
This is a beautiful place with excellent staff but needs to rethink its menu a little, especially breakfast, to become a 5 star location.
