Me and my wife stayed here 21/7/16. We booked via Travelzoo. The deal was for bed and breakfast and a six course taster menu. The hotel is only a couple of minutes walk from the central train station. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The room was clean but a little dated. The bed was very comfortable. The evening meal was excellent, as was the breakfast. The food was beyond a three star hotel. Being only a five minute walk from the town, the location is great. Will hopefully return very soon

This hotel was faultless. Excellent attention to detail, happy friendly staff & a lovely relaxing atmosphere.
The food was exceptional & imaginative.
The location is perfect for a short walk into Exeter Shopping Centre. Our room was well thought out with plenty of storage space. The bed was comfortable & the shower worked well. There was even an efficient little fan stored in the wardrobe along with a room heater. As we were there during a mini heatwave we opted for the welcome relief of the fan!
A real 'find' - we shall certainly be returning.

This was our second visit and apparently the hotel has changed hands since we were last here. However it was equally as good, if not better, than last time. The staff are terrific. We had walked from Exeter Quay on one of the hottest afternoons of the year and the receptionist brought us iced water before checking us in. Our deal included bed and breakfast and a six course taster menu which included beetroot and feta cheese, monk fish in bacon, duck’s liver with asparagus, whist the main was neck of lamb which had been cooked sous vide to ensure it was tender and tasty. The dessert was a very generous chocolate panna cotta with fresh fruits. Ryan, our young waiter, looked after us and the other diners admirably. With the price we paid for this deal one can only describe the experience as excellent.

Hi,

It was a pleasure to read your kind words - I have passed these on to Ryan and our lovely chef Iain.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us, we are currently running another deal between September & November so if you would like to book again please contact us at the hotel directly.

Kind Regards
Beckie

Although the hotel was rather dated, we couldn't fault it on location, cost, service, food, comfort of beds, ease of parking. If you want to be picky, then the decor and furnishings could be improved, but it's an old building and for the price we paid there's not much left over to spend on turning a three-star hotel into a five-star.

Trying hard but the hotel is in need of a urgent refurb upstairs. Questionable cleaning regime particularly in the bathrooms. The good bits are the food and the location- in Exeter it's a limited choice at this price level!
