Stayed one night on a special deal of Bed, Breakfast and Evening Meal on a Saturday night. Hotel location is central and just a few minutes from the centre and Cathedral District of the city. Check in was easy and we were greeted by a lovely member of staff. Room on second floor front (9) which was above our expectations to be honest. Was smart and comfortable and the bathroom was modern and smart. Bed was soft and comfortable. Kettle, tea and an nespresso coffee machine. Free glasses of port and fudge. All the usual essentials like iron and ironing board and free access to Sky TV
Evening meal accompanied by a free beer or wine and the food was really very good. Breakfast had a good choice and was delicious. Every member of staff we encountered was was cheerful and helpful. Can’t really think of anything negative to say.

Room tip: No lift so if you have mobility issues choose a low floor.

The staff were great, friendly and helpful. The hotel itself has been restored to a high level. The room was lovely. Real design thought has gone into this hotel, I think whoever has done so should do more. The pork belly was to die for, I think it was the nicest I've ever had. Would definitely stay again, I need to make an excuse to go back. Top marks.

We stayed last weekend for two nights. On arrival, the room we stayed in looked lovely, clean and comfortable. However whilst being in the room for a few hours we did noticed a few things, such as damp and paint peeling on the wall (it looks an old building so fairly understandable), dirty cotton buds in the glass container in the bathroom, the incorrect fire exit plan for the incorrect room (my husband teaches health and safety, so he checks these things) and the drain in the shower was blocked, it was ankle deep! I did ask reception about this, the lady was apologetic and said it would be sorted that day. However when we had a shower the next morning, it was still blocked. On check out I asked again and the lady said she would chase up the cleaning team and they had called out an engineer. And finally, we had a drink on Saturday night in the bar after we got back from dinner, I fancied a cocktail so enquired about the different flavours, the bar man wasn't sure and looked it up! I've worked bars before so I know if you haven't made them much it's hard to remember all ingredients! They didn't have the peach puree in stock, fine, I'll have raspberry instead. The result however was the image attached, this was £7, it wasn't even full to the top, this is exactly how it was given to me! I don't like to leave negative reviews but at £173 for 2 nights, which is a lot of money for us! I was a little disappointed!
