Single room quite spacious with good facilities.Clean and well maintained but the windows open fully so reluctant to leave windows open on ground floor.also it appeared they leave fire doors open all night on corridor as there are camper vans parked at rear which didn't seem that safe.I shut it and it was opened again,
Room got very warm.I was in a room at back so quiet as hotel is of f a busy roundabout some of bedrooms on front quite noisey

The food was good in the hotel pub and breakfasts were very good with plenty of choice.

Good staff in restaurants who were polite and helpful

Room Tip: Get a room at back

We were slightly shocked by the general attitude of the staff at this establishment, they were teetering on the edge of rude at times. It was a good thing my husband checked the bill thoroughly before paying the final amount as somehow we had £30 of someone else's bar bill added to our account! This was removed, however, no apology was made. The rooms were clean and modern, however if you like a bit of room to get dress then get ready to be disappointed! The food however is of a good standard.

The hotel is very beautiful but it is much to close the the roundabout so the noise of cars going past kept us up all night.

The bathroom was tiny and a little dirty around the edge. However the staff were outstanding and as helpful as they could be, especially with the youngsters. The food was very good as well but overall with the small size of the room, bathroom and the noise from the road not a great stay I am afraid.

Needing somehwere to stay and having attended previousily this venue for courses - I decided to stay.
Upon enetring the room at approx 5:00pm there was an awful smell - old smoke form the era when one could smoke - despite opening the windows the smell lingered. I could not decied whether the walls were yellow or nictine.
The room despite the windows being opened and the inclement British weather mean;t that it was raining - the room was unbearbly hot - no raditaors on, etc and at 1:45am I telephone down to reception to be told the heating wasn't on and there was nothing to be done. I did not sleep that night. The shower - a triggle of luke warm water. I would not recommend staying here and yes the towels were the size of a face cloth and felt like sand paper.

We stayed here overnight on our way to Watergate Bay: it was ideal the staff are all helpful and food selection is "First Class". We felt really relaxed to continue our journey. Great place to stay.

As other reviewers have noted, the principal issue here is the situation, right on a busy intersection. though the approach to the hotel is impressive, the accommodation is in a motel-style wing with just a car park between the bedrooms and the highway.

Our room, though spotlessly clean and freshly decorated (bathroom especially so) was only marginally bigger than the queen size bed within it, creating a claustrophobic atmosphere and logistical problems - just where does one put the suitcase?

Service was hit and miss. Though the bar staff were especially accommodating on our late-night return, one member of the reception staff appeared irritated and lacked patience on all of the three encounters with her. Having failed to deliver our morning paper as requested when we checked in (no big deal, but there are no paper shops anywhere nearby!) the nearest to an apology was "It's possibly our fault". hmm.

Our experience at The Devon could be compared with the size of the breakfast table - just about adequate but less than might be hoped for.
