Stayed here on our way to cornwall. Room nice and clean and come with the few essentials that you might need: tea, coffee, and shower gel. Had Meal in the restaurant which very nice and price seemed reasonable.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights with my elderly mother. The staff was very accommodating and gave us adjoining rooms on the ground floor and also ensured that my mother's room had a shower for easy access. The bathrooms were very clean and although the rooms were a tad 'cosy', they were clean and well equipped. The ground floor rooms were also very convenient for unloading and loading the car as the door opened on to the car park. They also had a nice little patio with a table and two chairs.

My wife and I stayed for two nights on August 20 2013 on a special offer. The Hotel has a stunning approach from the roundabout as the front gardens and hanging baskets are superb in content and colour The room (22) was small but immaculate but had four awkward steps from door to bedroom level Staff were excellent in appearance and manner but should wear name tags. The Carvery was good but not excellent, and buffet breakfast needed the food not to be left so long on hot plate. A very welcome break in a hotel whose location is great for visits to other places in East Devon. David and Joan Williams

Room Tip: Ask if there are any bigger rooms and back rooms are much quieter

Stayed one night with my wife and very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hotel and the brasserie which is a few yards from the hotel as we booked a really good value deal for carvery and dessert with breakfast for under £ 100.
The room was very clean and we had a room at the rear of the hotel which was very quiet as the hotel is by quite a busy road.
The service was first rate but the biggest treat was the carvery which had a succulent turkey and a slow cooked silver side of beef which was absolutely wonderful - best beef I think I have ever tasted so thumbs up to the chefs.
Definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: My own view is to try and get a room at the rear of the hotel as they will be quieter.

We have stayed here several times while visiting family in the area. Reception staff are welcoming and helpful. Rooms are clean, comfortable and well appointed. Bar area is bright and comfortable and there is a nice buzz about the place with attentive staff. Restaurant - having sampled breakfasts, bar lunches and dinner the food is excellent with generous portions. The hotel organised two small events for us and to be frank the manager made it easy. The manager is approachable and in our experience, he and his team are really helpful in providing us with a home from home.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel

We stayed at the Devon mid week in July. On arrival we were greeted by two very friendly and professional receptionists. There didn't appear to be any lifts inside this hotel but lots of steps and we would be concerned if guests had some sort of disability. On reaching our room we found yet three more steps to get into the door! Once inside the room I went to put some clothes in the wardrobe to find it was a bathroom.............this is not a cheap place to stay!

It was hard to sleep in a room so close to the road that you felt was on a grand prix track - the noise only stops for a few hours in the night.

The restaurant was ok and I think where this hotel gets its stars. The garden is not quite so nice as advertised given the setting.

Would we stay here again - definitely not

Room Tip: If you have to stay here make sure your room is not facing the road
