Although we live a few miles from the Devon Hotel we certainly find it to be the best Carvery within the area. Being resident in Newton Abbot permits us easy access to a choice of resorts, towns and cities. We are avid 'eaters out' and have visited many establishments, but find that the Carvery in the Devon Hotel is "simply the best". A great choice of meats, supported by a lush range of vegetables, along with good service and a competitive price for the quality of cuisine served. Just as important are the 'clean and well groomed chefs', who are pleasant, polite and extremely helpful. Special mention to Chris........great place well done the 'owners.

What a great meal we had lovely carvery 2 meats had a bit of both moist and fresh roasted served by a friendly chef ( Chris ) Turkey and beef was just first class came with all the trimmings and 6 veg most fresh and cooked just right red cabbage , cauliflower cheese peas, carrots sweed mashed with cream and butter , honey roasted parsnips roast and new potatoes what a choice and great value for money to top it off chefs homemade gravy . Could not fault it
With first class service from all staff from the bar to the restaurant and great well kept hotel what better place to go with something different to offer than the big chain eat houses love it and will go back very soon as the main menu looks very good as well ,
thank you

The room it's self was very comfortable could do with a bit of TLC though as parts were looking a it worn but nothing a refresh wouldn't sort. I also found the duvet quite thin. Never stayed in a hotel where there were several notices about norovirus dotted around, I can imagine it is just trying to be careful but it was slight off putting and tainted my stay.

The staff on the reception could do with a bit more training. Asked what time I would like dinner I said about half 5/6 to which the response was we don't start serving until 6.30.

I had the carvery deal and found this to be ok. Even though it had just opened some of the food was either boiling hot of Luke warm, meat was dry but overall quite tasty.
The pudding on the other had was bizarre a strawberry, lime, chocolate rouse. Just bizarre flavour combination.

This hotel was handy for my business trip, I would stay again but would perhaps venture somewhere else for food.

For a Carvery the meat was dry, seasonal veg turned out to be over cooked and out of season, had a feeling the Yorkshire pudding was from the freezer.

The heat lamps on the carvery had dried up the meat, which had flavour, but wasn't flexible and rare in the middle.

Meet and greet was good, and the rest of the establishment was presentable to suit all tastes and occasions.

Came away feeling nonplussed, compared to our visit two years ago, which was an A*.

We stayed for one week, b&b. We had one evening meal in Carriages, which was very good. Restaurant staff were attentive without being intrusive. Breakfast was as much as you could eat with a choice of English or continental. The first night the room was a little overly warm due to central heating pipe, so we opened the windows. There is some traffic noise,(we overlooked the front car park) even though we live in a very rural area, this was not a major problem. We spoke to housekeeping in the morning about the temperature (too warm) of the room, the problem was fixed by our return at the end of the day. We continued to have the windows open as the weather was mild. All the staff were friendly, helpful and pleasant. We had a king double room, which was more than large enough to relax in the evenings together with tea, coffee and biscuits available.

Room Tip: Our room was on the first floor.. Bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows
