“Perfectly fine”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 January 2014

I stayed here on business for a week in July 2013. The hotel room was perfectly adequate though certainly not outstanding. The general feel I got about the hotel was that it was more motel than hotel, and given the chance this would not be my first choice for Exeter. Food at the restaurant was fine, though when I visited they had trouble seating me as the restaurant is open (and seems aimed at) non guests.

Thank you for your review, I am disheartened to hear that we would not be your first choice for a return trip. We strive to make every guests stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The restaurant does get very busy due to it’s popularity, we do encourage guests to book a table in advance for this reason. We do hope to see you again...

We spent one night here last night. We had a last minute deal for a double standard, room only rate which was great! Room was immaculate and had everything you would expect from a 4* hotel let alone a 3*. Very comfortable and had a lovely bathroom with impressive shower (which I'm usually unimpressed by!) and complimentary toiletries which we weren't expecting. We didn't eat here, but the menu looked good. It is situated on a noisy roundabout but when you're in the room it's fine. If we were in Exeter again we would stay here and will also try other hotels in the Brend group.

went here for our Christmas meal which was OK but have had cheaper, better meals at other places. for the money you pay there is hardly any service and is a carvery roast dinner (which nobody told us until we asked how long you have to wait for our mains. the place its self is lovely with nice surroundings and the disco after was good.

This Christmas Staff meal out was so good, we are afraid to go any where else next year , in case we are disappointed.
It looked very posh when we entered , but the staff couldn't have been friendlier. The service was quick and unobtrusive, and they took our teasing in good spirits. Thankyou

Our second visit this year for a weekend stay at the Brend Devon Hotel, Exeter.

Once again we find the staff very welcoming and friendly and our King size twin room well presented and immaculately clean, though floor space is at a premium as the rooms are not that large. The beds were extremely comfortable offering a good nights sleep. Very impressed with the daily house keeping, the room was serviced without a fault and to a high standard.

The hotel is situated on a busy roundabout and noise intrusion to the front facing rooms could be a problem particularly during the summer if windows are opened – having said that ours was a winter visit and noise intrusion was not an issue.

The buffet breakfast offers a excellent choice and is well presented , the only down side being that orange juice is the only fruit juice available which is some what restricting to individual tastes. A greater choice expected in a 3 star hotel.

If you are staying on a DB&B package the evening meals offered by the `table d`hote` menu are adequate but a little disappointing being somewhat restrictive in choice at each course, and not particularly hotel inspiring; a little below expectation for a 3 star hotel. The dining room is very attractive and the staff attentive, though during our stay we did experience some poor quality table service.

The bar/lounge area is comfortable and most inviting even if at times you may have to wait to be served at the bar.

This is not a traditional hotel in the true sense but based upon motel style accommodation aimed at the business trade, but having said that if you can book a good value DB&B package stay it offers the traveller a good value for money. We would not hesitate in returning and using the hotel as a base to explore the local area.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear will be quieter

Stayed four times since August this year. Very clean well presented rooms, plenty of parking. Great food with attentive friendly service from every member of staff every time. Restaurant always busy with what seems to be a mixture of guests and locals demonstrating a consistent vote of confidence. Always taken the dinner bread and breakfast deal which has varied between £90 and £100 for two. Excellent value and would stay nowhere else.
