Booked at short notice to see The Cult at Exeter Uni Great Hall. Not the most appealing of properties looking at it from outside but certainly not the worst, inside every area was clean, tidy and well presented. If it's a luxury break you want maybe not for you? If it's a basic B&B you're after then you'll not be disappointed. Long walk but hotels closer to Uni either too expensive or fully booked. It's a shorter walk to city centre + plenty of local buses. Some off road parking in front of hotel, if full, plenty in nearby streets. Receptionist pleasant and accommodating. Booked single, en suite, which was roomy, quiet and clean with complimentary tea & coffee. In room 21 3rd floor attic room, no problems, comfy bed, got good nights kip. Full English & toast & coffee + refills, which was well cooked & filling. At GBP45, breakfast included, was not particularly cheap but compared to most other hotels in Exeter it was a good deal I reckon.

Room Tip: room 21 on 3rd floor, attic room, looking out over street I found fine and got a good nights sleep. Queen size bed, roomy with good en-suite toilet & shower. Not recommended for those who struggle with stairs obviously or those who have had a few too many beers!

Car parking spaces were tight to say the least - once the car was parked you couldn't open the doors.

The receptionist was an Eastern European lad with piercings and wasn't very welcoming.

On entering we deeply regretted having booked for 2 nights on bookings.com, and immediately started ringing around to change for the following night

The room was small and overlooked terraced houses behind. We didn't try the bath/shower, the toilet seat was loose and we didn't get into bed once we rolled the duvet back and saw a big hole in the sheet and no mattress protector - we slept on top of the bed fully clothed as it just looked dirty

Breakfast wasn't too bad - but it was so poor, we wouldn't stay there again

We were amazed that this hotel can charge what they do and provide so little service. Our family room did cater for 3 people all be it in very uncomfortable beds and lack of general space.
The receptionist on arrival was miserable, she couldn't even raise the minimum of good manners or courtesy to us .Our room was clean, but lacked toilet roll(with 3 people sharing). There was nobody on reception each time we tried for some sort of "room service".After an uncomfortable night we had a breakfast in the gaudy dining room. The quality was poor,I have my own bar/restaurant and know the options when buying stock. This was the cheapest rubbish. In the 5 days holidays we had in England this place was the worst value for money ,quite frankly ,my advice is AVOID THIS HOTEL!

Stayed here for 2 nights. Hotel a bit tired looking and parking is very tight but free if you can get a space.
Staff were very helpful, (all 2 of them) and jolly couldn't have asked for better service.

The rooms were a bit dated and fairly clean if you don't look too closely at the carpet but plenty wardrobe space , tea and coffee facilities and a tv :) Breakfast was ample and freshly cooked to a good standard, nothing was too much trouble.

The biggest downside was the bathroom. The toilet was adjacent to the large plain glass window meaning every time I sat on the toilet I could wave to all the neighbours across the main road ! lol Tiles were a bit moldy and windows single glaze with old frames.
The main road was directly outside our window and our curtains almost see through letting in the sunshine at 5am :(

On the plus side, the beds were comfy and clean, there was always plenty of hot water and the room was a good size....on the down side it was all a bit dated and at £60 per night overpriced!!

Would I stay here again? NO unless they seriously updated it or dropped the price.

Planned to go to Exeter for one night to attend a Funeral, I booked a hotel but then decided to come down the day before. My original hotel was fully booked so I booked into this one for one night.
I read the reviews on here and was expecting it to be like Fawlty Towers.

Turned up, straight into a parking space, went to reception and was greeted by a young man who checked us in very efficiently and couldn't do enough for us, he was very helpful and knew what he was doing.

We went to our room and I took a deep breath before I opened the door as I was expecting it to be awful. I could not have been more wrong. We had a lovely decorated room, with loads of space, large tv, nice bathroom which looked quite recently decorated. Really impressed. Beds were comfortable and everything was clean. Tea and coffee facilities, arm chairs and a table.

We had a lovely breakfast the next morning and it was lovely, they kept offering more toast and tea and coffee etc, the lady serving us was great, really friendly.

We even said that it was a shame that we were checking out to go to another hotel ( as previously booked) as we would have liked to have stayed there again.

Really good value

Room Tip: We had room 15
