We ate the mussels in garlic and white wine last night - absolutely delicious. Our only problem is that we live in Bristol, and can't go there more often. Any further visits to this part of the country will definitely include The Rising Sun. Can't wait.

Plenty of people outside but were shown a table straight away, good service by all waitresses nothing too much trouble, food was delicious, only seafood restaurant we found, crab slate odd title but well cooked, and tooled up, scallops were perfectly cooked, lamb pink moist and very tasty, seafood in ginger and chilli was fantastic good size portion and a sauce to die for, heartily recomend the chocolate fondant with pistacio ice cream and salted caramel, good choice of beers and wines, well worth the price shame we only found this on our last night as we would budget to go back two or three times on our next stay.

This is a real gem in Lynmouth & is well worth waiting around to secure a table. The grilled seafood plate included mussels, cockles, crabs claws & king prawns...! The added bonus is the full range of real ales. John the barman will make you very welcome & go that extra mile to ensure you have a good experience.

Recently had dinner here with my partner and parents, after stopping in for a pint the night before, we decided to go back and were treated to a wonderful meal.

Three of us had the battered Cod (breaded plaice also available) and chips, which was brilliant, the fish and chips were both cooked perfectly and still piping hot when they arrived, the mushy peas were delicately minted and the tartar sauce nice and tangy. My partner had the Mussels with West Country Cider sauce and received a gargantuan bucket entirely filled with edible mussels, the sauce was so tasty I finished it off with a spoon!

Atmosphere was friendly, with the waitress cleaning our table on arrival and ensuring all was OK throughout. They even allowed the dog in the bar and she was treated to the odd chip. Good selection of Real Ales and reasonably priced. Highly recommended in staying in Lynton and Lynmouth.

The Rising Sun restaurant was very good and offered a wide range of options. Staff are friendly and efficient. I would recommend making a booking if you want to eat in the restaurant as it gets very busy, though if it is full you can still select from the same menu and eat in the bar area.
