I instantly felt 'at home' here as it reminded me of visiting my Nanny's house back in the 70s. There is a very clean 'soapy/ mothballs' smell around. Parking is tricky outside of 4pm-noon unless you are happy to leave your keys for the manager to move your car. Otherwise you can get a space and stay between 4pm and noon on the road. Like another reviewer we were a little 'anxious' about hanging our room key and being told its ok to just take it from the board , as surely so could anyone else ? Maybe we are just too suspicious and untrusting these days coming from the city ?
The village and harbour is beautiful and this is a great place to base yourself to see it. The room was very well equipped with tea coffee biscuits toiletries etc despite extremely outdated decor ( not in an Art Deco / retro style, just old but clean and perfectly functional) we were very pleased to have a bath with shower in bathroom, basin within bed room and balcony in Room 2 and could recommend it accordingly. We were kept awake by someone snoring upstairs but cannot blame the hotel for this. The breakfast was superb as was the service we received. Good value at £75 for this double room in peak season.More
