“Holiday in Devon”

My Wife and I spent 5 nights at the Rising Sun during July. We found the Hotel/Pub suited our needs in every way. The Staff are very good in all areas and are always keen to assist. We ate in the restaurant on four of the evenings, every meal was first class. We should have eaten all nights at the Rising Sun, however we ate up in Linton on one occasion and that was a big disappointment!. The views from the front bedrooms are stunning, in particular the Sunrise. We Would have no hesitation in recommending the Rising Sun.

Thank you very much for your lovely comments, and for saying that you would have no hesitation in recommending us. We are very proud of our food and are glad to hear you agree. The views of the Harbour are ever changing there is always something different to see. We think it is an amazing location. We hope to welcome you back soon.

This is a very quaint hotel/pub with lots of character in a picturesque village. The location is ideal, right next to the sea front. The room we had booked overlooked the harbour and was extremely spacious and very well furnished. We had our evening meal in the restaurant which was very good and offered a wide range of options. I would recommend making a booking if you want to eat in the restaurant as it gets very busy, though if it is full you can still select from the same menu and eat in the bar area. Breakfast was equally delicious with a good range of hot and cold options. There have been several reports on this web site about the poor/bad attitude of the staff which I did not experience. The lady at check in was polite and friendly, offering the use of free road maps. The staff in the restaurant were all very polite and efficient. I overslept on the second morning and missed breakfast and the man on reception kindly offered to get me a fruit salad which I’d requested. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Thank you for taking the time to review us. We are very pleased that you liked you room. We feel very privileged to be located where we are and are glad that you also enjoyed the views. It is advisable to pre book a table in the Restaurant like you did as we do get very busy. We are pleased that you found the staff to be both helpful and polite. We hope to welcome you back again soon.

I arrived here at short notice, a refugee from a damaged tent. The room was smal but beautiful, and the bed more comfy than my bed at home. Great location, friendly staff, and the food was excellent too. I'm definitely going back.

Our rooms do vary in size due to the age and character of our building. We are very pleased that your room met with your expectations and the bed was very comfortable. Thank you for your comments about our friendly staff and excellent food. I will make sure that they are passed on. We look forward to seeing you again at The Rising Sun.

My Husband and I stayed at the Rising Sun for 3 nights from 9th to 12th July. We paid £345 for our stay. Our room was very small. The bed was also very small. We were unable to eat in the restaurant due to poor organisation by the staff. There are better places to stay in Lynmouth which have far better facilities and rates. Would not stay here again.

Room Tip: Not at this hotel

Thank you for taking the time to review us, and we apologise that you had issues with your stay. Our hotel offers en-suite bedrooms, all with a television, and tea and coffee making facilities. Once a home for fishermen, The Rising Sun hotel has a wealth of crooked staircases, narrow passageways, sloping floors and low beams therefore retaining its old world charm. We once again apologise that you did not enjoy your stay and wish you all the best in the future

Picture postcard setting by the sea, bit difficult parking during the day because of the tourist in the village. However, the reception was excellent and the room had a lovely sea view. Rooms are petit, but that was OK - bathroom was clean and modern. The bar was busy and there was a great atmosphere. The best part of the stay was without a doubt the restaurant, absolutely first class, well done to all who made this a great stay.

Room Tip: Go for the sea view rooms.

If you are visiting Lynmouth then a visit to the Rising Sun is a must. Food was fab - crab slate is a must. Def want to go back. Staff we're welcoming and service first class. Dogs are welcome. A good old fashioned pub serving good food - a hard find these days
