Whilst staying at another hotel in Lynmouth (11th - 13th May 2012) we decided to book at the Tors for an evening meal on Saturday the 12th and what a perfect evening it turned out to be.
Firstly our table had a picture postcard view of the bay and a sunset which made the experience even more magical, but we were there for the meal and what great food it turned out to be.
It far outstripped our expectations, and was far better quality than a similiar meal we had experienced the previous evening at a well respected establishment within the town.
We also had the pleasure of being served by a lovely spanish waitress, who just loved our weather.
It was the perfect end to a wonderful day, and i would recommend to anyone, wherever you stay visit the Tors for wonderful food and views. Thank you all

Millers have changed most things except the Chef.
We only went for a meal but the Public Rooms are now a "Must See" - although completely over the top. The terrace has been re-built to take advantage of the view.
The food? It's always been a strong point and remains so - you can see why they kept the chef!

Have just returned from our second stay at The Tors.

Really enjoyed our second visit to this hotel.
Management and staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Evening meal was superb. The bread and butter pudding is a must have if on the menu. Breakfast will keep you going all day.
The public rooms have been transformed as part of the recent refurbishment and are full of antiques and books to keep you occupied if the weather is not too good.
Looking forward to returning soon.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view if available.

Only popped in for lunch when staying in the area but felt compelled to write a review .First things first I will readily admit I am a fan for the Millerisation that happens to these hotels - Love The Anchor in Porlock and cannot wait for The Castle to reopen. The Tors stands in one of the best positions in Lymouth and this view can now be enjoyed to great effect by the new decking. We only popped in for a sandwich and a drink but I loved what I saw. We sat outside with a nice cold pint drinking in the amazing view. Personally I think this new approach is a shot in the arm the tourism indusry needs and I cannot wait to stay here later in the summer. Keep up the great work!

I stayed here with my boyfriend in Febuary for a weekend break. We arrived in the car park with no spaces having to park next to a smelly skip, then after checking in we had to find our own room as it was too much trouble for the staff to inform us. The room was very dated, and smelled of damp with very basic furniture.

The restuarant was closed on the evening we arrived so we went to the bar and ordered the most exspensive bottle of wine which was not even chilled!

We spoke to the manager of the hotel who was rude, arrogant and had no respect for anything we had to say but was very happy to take our money.

We checked out of this so called 4 star hotel asap with no refund and checked into the Rock House Hotel which was 1st class and could not do enough for us. This hotel is a complete let down, do not waste your money!!!

The title says it all really....WOW... the hotel, even though in the process of being refurbished is absolutely amazing from the minute you pull into the car park. The views across the bay and the harbour are breathtaking, the appearance of the hotel is enchanting and then you start to notice the characteristics and magical touches of a genius at work.

The interior of the hotel is simply stunning and I guarantee you will be drawn in to every nook and cranny, room, library, lounge, open fires, candles, books, antiques, views, artwork, pictures, and when you start to indulge yourself you notice the creative, quirky and artistic touches.

We stayed there with our 5....yes 5 children (13,7,7,6,3 all girls) and the hotel Manager and brilliant reception staff (Kinga in particular) did everything possible to accomodate us.

We were given a room with fantastic views from the side of the hotel across the wonderous Gorge and my daughters sat at the windows for hours captivated watching the wildlife, birds, the scenery and the simple beauty of the river below. The room had a double, 4 singles and a cot as well as en suite bathroom, a couch, flat screen TV on the wall (its a guy thing) and a vanity unit along with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. To be honest it couldnt have been much better for our family.

The hotel was totally accepting of the children and you would possily imagine it to be the other way when you first walk in to a high class establishment but with bowls of sweets all round and fruit bowls, my children thought they were in heaven and they were allowed to be children too.

The restaraunt for breakfast and dinner was serviced by extrememly pleasant staff and the food was fantastic. The evening meals are fine dining but the balance of the portions are totally adequate and whilst there are childrens options (burgers etc) I would urge you to instead have half portions of the main menu as the food is wonderous and my children were eating venison, crab, sea bass, and duck which was a fantastic experience for them as well.

I had better stop raving about this hotel now but I will revert to my opening statment to summarise every aspect of our stay from start to finish ......WOW !!!!

When looking for a hotel in Lynmouth, avoid this one at all costs!! It's well known in the town and the comunity to be of very poor quality and poorly managed, and wish I had listened to the people first. This hotel should be a 2 star and is completely overated!! We checked out of this hotel within 10 minutes of arrival and found a better one for half the price.

In the AA rosseted restaurant you will find a relaxed atmosphere with superb quality food, an excellent wine list and probably the best views in the village. The whole family will find a warm welcome in the restaurant and as much care will be taken with your little one's ice cream as with your carefully prepared main meal.
