What a wonderful morning to walk out on to the balcony take in the view out over the bay and breathe in sea air.

Now back at work and back to reality............anyway we have just returned from staying at the Shelley's, we chose from reading reviews on Tripadvisor and were not disappointed.

This was a very relaxing break, we were lucky with the weather which made our stay all the more enjoyable.

There are many places to stay on Exmoor and it was difficult choosing, but we are so glad we picked the Shelley's, it has a well deserved reputation for high standards and good value.

Shelley's is in a perfect spot, central to everything just a couple of minutes up from the harbour. Full of character Shelley's has been very sympathetically decorated, the rooms are bright and fresh and hosts Jane & Richard are welcoming, easy going and keen to please.

Shelley's exudes a relaxed informal calm atmosphere, Jane's breakfasts are absolutely 1st class, it is difficult to add to the other reviews, it's as good as they say it is.

Lynmouth aptly named as the 'Walking Capital of Exmoor' is a great place from which to explore the national park - Watersmeet, Valley of Rocks, Heddon Valley, Lorna Doone Country are all within easy reach. The Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff Railway is a must for going up to Lynton, and walk the Zig-Zag Path down.

We dined out at Le Bistro and Harbourside Restaurant at the Rock House and had a bar meal in the Rising Sun, all were very enjoyable.
.
To sum up a really lovely break, excellent value, it was too short, we just wish we could have stayed a little longer.

Another excellent stay at Shelley's. We've stayed here three times and can't fault it at all. As others have said Richard and Jane are great hosts. Friendly and welcoming and nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. If you're looking for something to do in the area, no doubt they'll be able to point you in the right direction. Breakfast in the conservatory dining room has great views and the food.......well, trying not to eat too much is the only problem.

Room was clean and spacious (conservatory balcony) with a superb view across what I suppose is the village green to the sea. You can relax in the evening in the comfortable lounge or the small bar area while enjoying a drink from the honesty bar - a nice touch these days.

We would definitely return. Next week if we could!

I agree with all of the other reviews, it's all true, Shelley's is a really delighful hotel.
Our Juliet Balcony bedroom was lovely and bright with beautiful sea views. Breakfasts were delicious and our hosts Jane & Richard were friendly, very helpful and gave us plenty of local information about the area and places to eat in the evening.
We had a lovely time, we'd definately book again.

We have stayed at Jane & Richards several times over the years. We cannot fault their friendleness and the fantastic way they look after their guests. We hope to come again soon. Eating out in the evening explore outside Lynmouth as we found some fantastic pubs etc outside the village and a lot more reasonable.

Room Tip: Conservatory Rooms have wonderful views.
