This hotel is well situated with most rooms having a sea view. It is EXTREMELY well run by Richard and Jane who clearly pride themselves on looking after there customers.
The rooms are spotless with brasses polished so that you can see yourselves in them.
The breakfasts were excellent.
It is hard to find fault which is clearly a good thing for anyone considering a stay at Lynmouth. From a selfish point of view, its a shame that Shelleys does not provide lunch/dinner facilities with a 'manned bar' too as I strongly believe it would easily get more trade as whilst Lynmouth (and Lynton) are in beautiful settings, we did find the quality of some of the eateries and drinkies, abit wanting. The 'Rising Sun' at the front has by far the best quality (in our opinion) and this is supported by the numbers of customers it gets. Also supported too by the amount of locals that go in there. The Esplanade Fish Bar was really good too.
Lynmouth was a first for us and as we like Cornwall too, plus we like to spend a few days at various places on visits down the South West, we will return and its very likely too, that Shelleys will be 1st on the list (providing its a decent deal...We like decent deals!!). THANK YOU Richard and Jayne for an really enjoyable stay and your tips too, on what to do and where to go to get the most from Lynton and Lynmouth..

Room Tip: The Sea View with Balconies looked very popular. See the Sea with a bottle of wine!!

If you want to stay in Lynmouth make sure you stay at Shelley's - you won't be disappointed!
The hotel is tastefully decorated in the theme of Shelley the poet; is very clean and comfortable and has excellent facilities all round.
There is plenty of choice for breakfast and the service is very efficient even with a number of guests in attendance at the same time. ~
Added to it all, the owners Richard and Jane are very friendly and helpful and will do all they can to make your stay a memorable one.

We stayed at Shelley's for 2 nights whilst touring Devon and Cornwall. Shelley's was selected after reading reviews on Tripadvisor and we were certainly not disappointed. Our room had a balcony, lovely bed and plenty of room. The breakfast was really special as was the friendly chat and advice given. All in all thoroughly recomended.

Room Tip: Lovely bistro across the street called Le Bistro

We booked here at last minute for a mini break and our initial telephone call was dealt with in a friendly efficient manner by owner Jane which set the tone for the stay. Richard and Jane were welcoming and Richard helpful about directions for walks in area and their difficulty rating .
Rooms are pleasant and well equipped - we had a conservatory room- and we were assured that we could come and go freely at all times.
Jane's breakfasts were delicious with a good variety of choice , setting us up for the day really . They clearly don't skimp on quality of food. There is a very comfortable lounge well stocked with board games and books and an 'honesty bar ' both of which we are sure are very welcome in inclement weather . Thankfully we had no need to sample these amenities as the sun shone the whole three days!
Hotel is close to all that Lynmouth offers . A word of warning to those whose mobile service provider is O2 - you won't get a signal in Lynmouth or Lynton ! We were assured Vodafone and orange users are ok.
Whilst we were there only three establishments were open for evening meals , although there were several open in Lynton. We chose to have totally car free days so ate in each one over the three evenings and found each to be equally welcoming and of good value for meals.
All in all we feel Shelleys offers good value for money and thank both Richard and Jane for their attention to details and
their hospitality.

Recently back from another relaxing 3 nights stay at Shelley's. Jane and Richard were their usual selves of welcoming and friendly, the room (Shelley's Room, which I had not stayed in before) was nice, comfortable and clean (the hotel is spotless throughout), with lovely sea views.
Breakfast was delicious as always, with a full range of options and freshly cooked to order.
Shelley's is ideal for Lynmouth village and restaurants, for the start of many walks in the area, and for relaxing at the end of a walking or sightseeing day. I highly recommend it.

We stayed at Shelleys on a midweek break and it was excellent.
Jane & Richard are very welcoming and helpful with lots of suggestions for dining out, places to visit, sights to see and walks etc, etc etc.................

We stayed in the Bay Room, a spacious king-size double room with glorious sea views, ideal for just willing the day away people watching!

The room was absolutely spotlessly clean and the bed comfortable, we slept really well.
Breakfast was delicious freshly cooked to order with lots of choice.
Highly recommended, we could not fault the place and great value too.
