I booked this hotel having read good reviews. When booking there was only one room left on the Sunday and that was on the ground floor.. When we arrived the owner's wife told us that this room was the designated 'pet room' and we would be upgraded the following day. The room was well appointed but absolutely reeked of air freshener and none of the windows would open so the smell was there all the time. The room was also in between the bar and the ladies toilets so if the bar is in use you can hear the voices and the hand drier in the ladies loos. The bed was comfy and breakfast was good but we didn't sleep well because of the smell of air freshener and having no fresh air. The owner told us that they didn't have a 'designated pet room' contradicting what his wife told us. I'm sure the other rooms upstairs are lovely but don't stay in room 9 unless you have a dog or no sense of smell. Unfortunately the experience put us off so we checked out after breakfast but I'm sure there are lots of satisfied customers of this b&b.

This hotel is on the edge of the harbour, surrounded by the constantly changing tides. We were offered an upgrade to a harbour-view room with a four-poster bed. Charming hotel and charming, friendly, helpful staff. Clean, quiet and comfortable. The bar and restaurant areas were very pleasant and the food's very good (especially breakfast). We will definitely be back! Recommended!

Room Tip: Ask for a harbour view and watch the tides constantly changing.

We've been here before some years ago and were attracted this time by the outside space (our group had lots of dogs, which were welcomed). The lunch menu was not particularly ambitious but everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Pricing was about right given the impressive location and the staff were friendly and efficient. The decor in the main bar was very smart as was the overall standard of the building and grounds. We'll go back. With a visit.

Excellent position with harbour and sea views. . Comfortable, quiet rooms not large but quite adequate. The members of staff we met over the weekend were great, nothing was too much trouble and they went out of their way to ensure that our party was well looked after. Meals were well presented and the breakfast was particularly good.

Friendly hotel right down beside the harbour. Single room quite small but adequate but made up for with the view onto the beach and Countisbury. Hotel clean and the food in the evenings and at breakfast very good. Did a good veggie breakfast. Quant dining room has lovely view of harbour. Would certainly go back, only downside being the small car park, but there is free off road parking over the bridge.

lovely place to stay, B&B excellent couldn't fault it and location second to none. heard some poor reports on bar & restaurant, we didn't use it but went in the bar one night - not a great atmosphere - only other aspect was possibly a little under staffed service a bit slow but other than that we really enjoyed it and would recommend or stay again
