The staff were very helpful, especially one barman who was quite entertaining. The food was good but the best thing about the rock house is it's location - simply stunning to watch the tide come in from our bedroom window in the morning. Definitely worth a visit ;-)

Stayed here for 3 nights in the single room and thoroughly enjoyed it. The room was bijou, but well appointed, clean and with a good view over the seashore. The breakfasts were generous and well cooked. The dinners were above average and well presented. The wine list was very reasonable and they sell real ale too. The staff were friendly and helpful. The weather was mixed, but there's lots to do in the area and the Rising Sun made a pleasant spot to watch the world go by with a pint of real ale.

Room Tip: Try and get a room with a sea view for the sunsets and sunrises.

Recommend the cream tea which we had sat outside in the rain (our choice!) The scones were light and fresh.. Generous portions of cream and jam
and decent cup of tea... We were invited to shout for more tea jam or cream if needed... Nice touch...
Jam could have been better quality... But all in all a good experience.
Thatch needs refurbishment... Had a look inside .... All seemed clean and welcoming... Would recommend for what it is....

The hotel was in a great location as I was walking the South West Coast Path and the Path goes right past the front door. The room was a very .good size and very clean with windows all around. The view from the room was excellent. We had an evening meal which was excellent and the service was great

We paid for a superior room to enable us to get a view over the harbour and out to sea, which was spectacular. The room was tastefully furnished, spotless and comfortable. We did, however, have a bit of a disaster shortly after our arrival. On opening the main window we could not keep it open due to broken sash cords. In our excitement to take photographs of the harbour we tried to prop the window open with what we took to be a bottle on the window ledge. It turned out to be a vase which fell out of the window and crashed on the rocks. Being the honest people that we are we owned up and were charged for the broken vase which would not have happened if the sash cords had not been broken. The staff went out of their way to be helpful, especially Lucy who greeted us on arrival and at breakfast with a cheery smile, which made up for poor weather. Breakfast was ok but the bacon looked a bit sad and tasted rubbery. We only stayed one night so didn't perhaps have a chance to give the hotel a fair crack of the whip, but generally we enjoyed our short time there.

This hotel is in a wonderful location, looking right out to sea. The food is very good, tasty and varied. We had an over night stay and were very happy with our room and service. Staff all friendly and helpful . The bar area was very friendly, if you just wanted a drink, and the gardens are charming to sit awhile with a cup of tea or coffee

Room Tip: Front room overlooking sea and harbour

Once again the hospitality, food and comfort is provided by this hotel and Mike, Glenys, James and all the other staff. Can't fault anything about this hotel. It is in a fabulous position with amazing views. The food of a very good quality and the rooms are very comfortable. Anything you need is available, nothing is too much trouble.
