I have never reviewed before but I felt the need to for this place. The owner was rude, unfriendly, condescending and extremely unwelcoming. We were pressurised into ordering as fast as possible and the moment the food was almost thrown onto the table with distain, he asked us for the money straight away .. we were is disbelief! We had to laugh because it was so unbelievable for such a lovely location. We were told to use public toilets over the bridge or his b and b. Upon choosing his b and b it was clear we had selected the wrong option. Food was less than adequate and for £6 for a very basic cheese on toast (cleverly disguised on menu as a very fancy welsh rarebit) we wish we had eaten somewhere else. Upon asking if the mint for the tea was grown in his garden he sniggered with an of course not its imported. The moment he had our money he shut the door and we never saw him again. Do not eat here!

We called by here on way back from a lovely walk to Watersmeet.
The heavens had just opened to torrential rain and we were in need of a cream tea!!
Not impressed when we were asked for £10 even before we had tea, which was not the best of scone, jam and cream.

A most unusual place, lacking in atmosphere and will not be returning in a hurry...

As the other people have said, lovely location, horrible tea. Four of us had lunch/tea here and it was a real disappointment. My husband's sandwich was awful and served with a cut tomato that had evidently been sliced the day before, the jam tasted gone-off (alcoholish), the milk was long life and all the food was very cheap quality. Our experience was the same as all the other reviewers regarding the hospitality

The only good thing about this place is the pretty garden! My wife and I ordered a Cream Tea and wished we hadn't bothered. Paying £5 each we expected a delicious treat, how wrong we were! The tea was severed in hideous green hospital style cups and saucers and the tea pot was a metal affair that leaked everywhere when poured. The scone was equivalent to the saver range found in most supermarkets and the cream was definitely not Devon clotted, more liked a bit of whipping cream. The jam had no fruit in it was just a blob of cheap tasteless goo. The owner would not let me in to wash my hands and pointed to the outside tap and toilets in the main square. If there was an award for the worst cream tea this establishment would win hands down.
