A freezing but sunny day in Lynton saw us picking Charlie Friday's largely on the basis of the friendly sign outside and the fairy lights inside! A warm welcome from the two women on duty saw us settled in for tea and a cinnamon scone and a coffee and kind of rocky road bar respectively.
Never having had a cinnamon scone before, I accepted the recommendation of clotted cream to go with it. The result: a slightly avant garde cream tea that was absolutely delicious. The range of beverages was truly incredible. I was very tempted by the offer of both Horlicks and Ovaltine!
The place is just sunny. Sunny paint, sunny furniture and sunny personalities. Both the staff (owners?) and people at others tables chatted with us. Our spaniel was presented with a blanket and a dog treat. The lavatories are clean and spacious.
Small people are as welcome as dogs - a blackboard and toy area with low sofas and so on. THERE IS ALSO WIFI which believe me, is rare in that part of the world!
Fairtrade coffee, unusual eats and charity collections makes this a positive, community focused enterprise.
In short: highly recommended.
