Stayed in the Myrtleberry, but all rooms appear to be of very good standard in terms of decor, facilities and cleanliness, a credit to the current owners. Breakfast was superb for 3 days we stayed. The website photos do a injustice, it much better in reality......

I took my lovely partner here for his 50th birthday. We stayed for 2 nights. It was a much needed break from work and the kids.
Hosts Mike and Karen are really warm and welcoming and have taken every step possible to ensure a comfortable stay in their hotel. We stayed in Myrtleberry room which is a delight, roomy, beautiful furnishing and a superking size bed which was so comfy. A lovely balcony looks out over the houses and out to the cliffs and sea. Stunning. They provide fluffy white towels, bath robes, lovely smelling toiletries in the bathroom and a hospitality tray. There is a honesty bar in one of the lounges where you can help youself to a drink and write it on a pad for your bill at the end. Breakfast is served in a beautiful conservatory. The breakfast menu has a wonderful choice and the food is fabulous. We also had a complimentry cream tea on arrival. After our stay we both felt recharged and totally relaxed. Lynton is lovely little town connected to the lovely lynmouth by a cliff railway. Yes it is hilly up and down to the town but worth it completely. Loved our stay there and so sad to leave. A wonderful weekend in a perfect hotel.

Highcliffe House is elegant and charming both inside and out. My husband and I stayed in the Myrtleberry Room on 15th & 16th August, which has a lovely little balcony directly overlooking the sea and cliffs and the whole of Lynton. The decor and furniture in our room was of a high standard as was the bathroom, which has a good easy to use shower in the bath. Everything is exceptionally clean and dust free, which of course you would expect from an establishment of this calibre. Breakfast is delicious, with a great choice prepared exactly as you request. My husband who usually insists on only staying in 5 star hotels when we travel was won over by the Highcliffe House. To quote him "The Savoy would do well to pay such attention to detail".

We had a perfect two night stay at this lovely hotel situated in the quiet village of Lynton. The hotel is suitated up a very steep hill and boasts hilly and coastal views.

We had booked the Chiselcombe room on the top floor which was worth the extra money due to the fantastic views! The room was equipped with WIFI, a TV with a DVD player built in and an alarm clock. The room was clean decorated tastefully, and the bed was very comfortable.

The breakfast which is ordered the night before is fantastic, you have the usual options for a full English breakfast, plus fruit with or without yogurt and other cereals and fruit juices. Also the view from the breakfast room is sensational and was a pleasure to eat in.

The living room downstairs is open to all guests where you can relax, read a book or simply admire the scenery plus there are a number of DVD's which you can borrow and take to your room to watch.

The service from Mike and Karen the owners was second to none, they both provided us with information on the local area and helping us find things to do around the Lynton area.

All in all I would fully recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay in the area.

Room Tip: The Chiselcombe room is perfect

We have just returned from one night at Highcliffe house, where we stayed in "Myrtleberry" room. We loved the amazing views of the Bristol channel from the room, and the two sets of double doors that led on to a little balcony. It felt like a little piece of heaven to wake up to that amazing view and sit on the balcony with early morning tea.

The room was beautifully decorated with a very comfy 6 foot bed, lots of storage and a very smart bathroom - robes and lovely toiletries provided. Nice choice of teas, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits plus bottles of water.
We left the doors open as it was a warm night and fell asleep to the sounds of the Lyn river below.
You can tell that Karen and Mike are passionate about this hotel as they go out of their way to provide every home comfort you could think of plus an amazing choice of breakfasts which are perfectly cooked and taken overlooking the same stunning view.
We were made very welcome at the Highcliffe, we arrived early and there was no problem in parking our car and taking our case up to the room. We went for a walk and returned to a lovely afternoon cream tea.

We would not hesitate in returning ourselves or recommending it to others.
