“Fabulous guest house”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

Our stay at Woodlands was wonderful. It is one of the rare and very special guest houses we've stayed in where we felt completely at home in a beautiful, tastefully renovated house which has a lovely atmosphere. Andy and Jo made us so welcome and at ease, and had gone to a great deal of trouble to ensure that every aspect of our stay was perfect - lovely room, great breakfasts, welcome tray and toiletries - and having a balcony outside our room, where we could sit and enjoy the wonderful views was the icing on the cake.

We would recommend this guest house without hesitation, and we will book another stay as soon as we can!

Lynton was lovely. We ate at The Oak Room on our first day and the Thai Restaurant on the second, and were very impressed with the food and service in both. We would also highly recommend Charlie Friday's coffee shop - great tea and divine scones, and welcoming and friendly staff.

The secondhand community bookstore in the Town Hall is well worth a visit - good choice of books at very reasonable prices. We also enjoyed the art and craft centre - again, lots of choice and fair prices.

While not a large town, Lynton has some very good individual shops. We enjoyed our stay so much that we can't wait to return.

Room Tip: We had a double room (en-suite) with balcony, which enjoyed fabulous views across the gorge to a woo...

having stayed in many hotels and guesthouses, i would rate this the best of them all. My husband and i have just stayed 3 nights for our wedding anniversary. Jo and Andy cannot do enough to make your stay as pleasurable as possible.
And the accommodation is 5* in every way. I will recommend it to everyone.

Always wonderful. Treated like old friends. The house, décor, food and hosts are divine. Lots of nice places to eat in Lynton and Lynmouth, especially recommend the Thai in Lynton and Vanilla Pod. Rising Sun lovely food but attitude leaves a lot to be desired!!!
Thanks Jo and Andy.

Room Tip: All lovely I think the one with the balcony is the nicest but we have not had that one yet

I am not one to write holiday reviews but staying at Woodlands after other places in Lynton and being so impressed I thought I had to 'put pen to paper'.Jo and Andy impressed right from booking in with tea and biscuits and a long welcoming chat finding out our needs and information about the area. Breakfast was an experience with such a wide choice from fresh fruit, juices and cereals followed by a wide choice of cooked breakfasts from locally sourced food. The bedrooms are top class, all fitted with stocked up mini drink fridges. We have already booked a return visit in September.

This is one of the nicest B & Bs we have stayed in.
Located just outside of Lynton in Devon it is a haven of tranquility. There is a lovely 10-15 minute walk on a path behind the house into Lynton-perfect on a nice day.
This lovely old house has been tastefully modernised with every comfort available. We had the Countisbury room which was spacious with a great view of the river valley and the numerous beautiful birds that flew in to visit the bird feeders. Bathroom was fabulous.
Excellent breakfast on offer & our hosts were delightful; very friendly & helpful.
This is a must visit accommodation.

Woodlands is a beautiful decorated and furnished guesthouse in a modern but characterful style. The rooms are very clean and tidy and the whole guesthouse was impeccably maintained throughout our stay. Great walk in shower areas and everything worked as it should.

The breakfast was freshly cooked daily with locally sourced meat, eggs the way you want them with fresh fruits and cereal also available.

We wanted an escape from normal hustle and bustle of life and this is the place to do just that. The location of this guesthouse is absolutely out of this world and there is no way to justify the views even in photos, you have to experience it.

Onto Andy and Jo who run the place - In all honesty we have never met such a friendly and accommodating couple. Andy and Jo helped us organise our walks, booked restaurants for us, answered the multitude of questions we had for them daily and just had time to chat and make us feel at home.

We honestly felt like we were leaving our own family by the end of our stay and we were very sad to leave.

Already planning a return trip for next year! If you get to go to Lynton/Lynmouth we recommend the Tar Steps walk which was breath-taking and a day trip to Dunster and the castle grounds.

Wonderful stay with wonderful hosts, perfect holiday, thank you thank you thank you!

This was the first time we had stayed at the Woodlands and it really was wonderful. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the views from the Watersmeet and Countisbury Rooms are superb. You can watch the birds from the balcony and if you are lucky you could see the badger. The breakfast was just as good and we really enjoyed the variety of fresh fruit. Jo and Andy were helpful hosts and gave us advise on local walks and we even borrowed their binoculars which were really handy to view the surrounding wildlife. We would highly recommend this B&B and if we are in the area again we would definately stay here.

Room Tip: Watersmeet and Countisbury are beautiful and both have balconies.
