Booking.coms mistake was our gain. We got a transfer to one of the best small hotels we have ever stayed in. Our room was clean and comfortable with a sea view that was breathtaking. The bed was large and comfortable with crisp white bedding. The breakfast was well organised and severed quickly. The owners and the other staff were friendly and welcoming. At the moment they are working 24/7 to refurbish the building, upgrade the rooms, sort out the grounds in just a few weeks they have made an amazing improvements, I would love to go back and see the finished project. Good Luck Bill and Cita. Thank you.

The hotel is well located and has quite literally breathtaking views. The staff are very friendly and nice and the hotel generally lovely (some areas are in need of refurbishment - however this in NO way detracted from the warmth and experience of the hotel).

The one thing I did take slight issue with was the quality of the food in the hotel. The breakfasts were generally average. I ordered eggs benedict and when it came back, I couldnt see anything underneath the hollandaise sauce - WAY too much. Scrambled eggs another day looked like they were minced and my wife ordered a mushroom omelette which came back looking like the mushrooms were out of a tin (as were mine in the full english I ordered) and the omelette itself looked pre made somehow!

Dinner was better but my lamb shank was a bit dry / sticky (also broke a tooth on the bone but that is entirely my fault).

I would stay there again for sure because of the location and staff, but wouldnt go there for food.

Room Tip: Ask specifically for a bay room - that was enormous and had an amazing view (it wasnt ours!)

Thank you for your comments, your feedback is useful. Our Chef in her exuberance for her product can be over generous with the sauce, and I have a waistline to prove it ! Not quite sure how we would pre make an omelette, and the mushrooms are fresh. The Hotel is the subject of an intense refurbishment at the moment, since our acquisition 5 weeks ago. The focus of this has now transferred to the rear areas of the Hotel, to avoid any inconvenience to Guests. The rooms offered are now amongst the best in the town. By the time of your next visit, there will have been further substantial improvements, to return this charming listed building to its previous grandeur. regards Bill

Nice room and huge bed. Wonderful view to the sea. The staff was friendly as well. Only thing that wasn't working was the wi-fi in the room but it worked in the public areas, so that was ok. If I came back, I'd stay at this hotel again.

Thank you for your comments, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. At present, WIFI is only available in the public areas. As part of our refurbishment however, we are hoping to make it available in all bedrooms in the near future. We look forward to seeing you again. regards Bill

We stayed at this hotel the weekend of the 19th July. This hotel has recently changed hands, and after reading some of the reviews we felt we had to add our own.

The hotel is located in the most picturesque part of Lynton with fantastic views. Upon arrival, we received a warm welcome from Bill, the owner. The hotel has a nice family atmosphere about it and we felt very relaxed straight away. We stayed in room 20 which has a balcony and a lovely view of the bay. The room was well equipped and has a lovely comfortable bed. Even though the weather had been really hot, the room was surprisingly cool and airy. Considering this hotel had only been under new management just over three weeks we thought they had done really well, especially as it is the height of the season.

The meals are taken in the dining room which has a lovely sea view. Breakfast was really good with plenty of choice. Evening meals were hearty English fayre and considering the short time since taking over the hotel a good experience. Having run a guest house myself I am only to aware of how challenging this can be, especially doing evening meals.

We had the pleasure of meeting some of Bill's family (helpers) who like Bill add to the friendliness of the hotel. We would highly recommend this hotel to all. We shall definitely be going back.

Room Tip: room 20 and the Bay room (6) are our favourites.

Have just spent 2 lovely days at Lynton Cottage Hotel and what a fabulous break. The views from our room were fantastic. When we arrived we found we had been upgraded to a superior room which was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and filling with a great variety of choice. Thank you for an excellent stay and can't wait to come back again. Carol and Dave White, Bristol
