“Lovely Hotel”
Reviewed 10 July 2012

Despite only staying one night, we were made most welcome and offered dinner for that evening which we accepted. The meal and service were excellent. Our room was lovely with a great seaview. All that could have been improved upon was the weather.I even loved the room colour and now know exactly which paint was used (sad I know)

We arrived with our friends on a very wet July evening, the welcome was very warm and friendly, our rooms had different ratings however the difference was relative to room size not quality both were of an excellent standard with tea and coffee trays and pleanty of soft fluffy towels for after our showers. The views were wonderful despite the mist over the sea. Our Hosts served us drinks in the lounge followed by a supurb three course meal enjoyed in the lovely Dining Room, the start to five days enjoyed by us all. John and Rose and their family are great Hosts the service was at all tmes very friendly and professional with little informal chats and discussions regarding Choughs Nest and things to do in the local area. This was the second visit by my Husband and I and we are in no doubt that we wil be returning again to this very lovely Hotel to enjoy the comforts and delecious meals, we were delighted to take our friends and our expectations were exceeded, thankyou John Rose and Family

Room Tip: Corner suites are bigger and sunny .smaller rooms on the top floor think about the stairs!

my 3 friends and i finished the 2mw and after a very wet and tiring 18mls arrived at the chough's nest. our reception was superb, we were shown to our excellent rooms and even though i hadn't booked any meals john said of course we could eat there. he suggested we have showers etc and come down when were ready to order, even though it was already 7.30pm. a very friendly, welcoming place, with excellent food and rooms. highly recommended.

I choose this hotel from the excellent reviews posted and was not disappointed. The hotel is family run and a number of guests were regular visitors. The breakfast was excellent, good choice and good quality and would certainly sustain you if walking the coastal path. The hotel has good parking, a very pleasant lounge and my rooom had a stunning sea view across the bay. Being family run they gave that individual attention, helping us find cinema times and lots of information when a party member became ill. Dinner at 7 was rather early for our party and I would have prefered a full size bath but my friends were happy with theirs. Overall I would recommend this hotel and would return.

My girlfriend and I stayed here in the first evening of our two moors way walking holiday. We were greeted with a warm welcome and the owners were most accommodating with regards to cooking us a meal with 15 mins notice. The rooms were spacious clean and well appointed and the food was excellent.

John and Rose were excellent hosts and made us feel very welcome from the time we arrived. We stayed in bedroom 7 which was very well proportioned and had two comfortable chairs to sit in for those times we were not exploring in and around Lynton and Lynmouth. There was plenty of tea and coffee facilities in the room and not forgetting the refreshing biscuits. We had a wonderful three course meal on our first night which was cooked to perfection. We would highly recommend the Choughs Nest to our friends and family and for those that read the trip advisor site. Theres no getting up and down at breakfast to help yourself to orange juice or cereal or being embarrassed about using the toaster, John serves it all to you. We will definitely return.

Room Tip: Room 7 was lovely

This small family run hotel has to be one of the best hotels we have stayed in.Set in a beautiful location and is somewhere where you are treated like a guest. The staff were very friendly and the whole atmosphere was relaxed and from a long forgotten era where customers came first.Nothing was to much trouble and the drinks in the lounge before eating was just perfect. The food was absolutely fantastic It was a pity that we could only stay two nights but we left feeling refreshed and thinking about when we can return.Long may you keep running this hotel and please dont change a thing. It is such a relief that places like this still exist -- its perfect!!!

Room Tip: number two has beautiful views and a massive bath!!
