“FABULOUS, FRIENDLY & FREE PARKING”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 February 2014

We have just returned from a 4 day break to this lovely B&B in Lynton.
What a great spot overlooking the sea with free parking too!
Debbie & Nigel were great hosts with nothing being too much trouble, good advice on walks, buses, where to eat etc.
Our room (2) was a very large room with a huge sleigh bed & lovely firm mattress, and 2 easy chairs facing the panoramic view from the huge window. Lovely to relax in after a good walk or shopping trip.
It was spotlessly clean and the shower room, although on the small side, was all you needed.
The breakfast was great with a good choice & everything cooked to order.
We had 2 dinners in the hotel which were very good (remember to pre-book) & on the third night we tried the Crown pub for chicken curry which was also very good. Just note that not much is open locally for dinner at this time of year, so check with Debbie first.
There is a well-stocked honesty bar, plus a very comfortable lounge with plenty of books to borrow.
As the weather was poor on our trip we took the bus to Barnstable for a good look around, plenty of individual shops, charity shops + M&S if you prefer!
We also visited the small privately owned cinema in Lynton which was a great experience, & walking distance to & from the hotel. Do pay it a visit, you will not be disappointed.
Overall a lovely break, despite the inclement weather, & I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting that area.
Thank you, Debbie & Nigel.

Room Tip: Room 2 was a large room with a shower room & fabulous sea views.

We stayed here for two nights recently and overall were very pleased. On arrival we were given the choice of a free room upgrade which was fantastic. The room we chose was both clean and comfortable and the little battery operated lights were so handy during the power cut that affected the whole town. Breakfast was excellent and could not be bettered, although we were a little confused when trying to book an evening meal, we were told we had to let them know at breakfast time which was not written in the room brochure, The wifi was pretty much unusable but overall we had a pleasant weekend both relaxing and comfy xx

Thank you so much for writing a review, we are really pleased that you had a relaxing time with us. Sorry about the confusion with the evening meal, I thought I had mentioned to you that because we are so small, we always ask for your choices at breakfast, as we buy and cook everything fresh. As to the wifi issues, I contacted BT whom are our provider and due the really awful storms we have had lately, it affected the sub-station in Lynton, which caused the problems the whole town have been experiencing. normally the wifi is fine. Obviously we don't have the luxury of Fast Broadband in this area. Plus with the house was built in 1850 with 2 foot thick walls! BT have responded and apologised, but obviously this was out of our hands, this is one of the pleasures of living in a rural area!!
Thank you again, take care, Nigel and Debbie.

We booked two rooms for 3 nights in July of 13.

My partner had a beautiful single room with the most perfect view of the sea. Truly a magnificent space.
My room was a double across the hall. Very cozy and comfortable.
Debbie, the owner, is a treasure! She is more than just a terrific hostess. I felt like we had known one another for years after only a few conversations with her. So very helpful, friendly, funny, and truly kind. Her husband and son were also on hand to give us advice on things to do, walks, sights, etc. it was so nice to come back in the evenings and have nice long chats with them in the little bar in the front of the house.
Parking is easy. Plenty of spaces available.
Breakfast was in a beautiful room at the rear of the house. Fresh, tasty, perfect in every way. What a great start to a day of walking the coast paths!
Sinai House was the best place we stayed in on our 30 day driving trip across Europe.
Lynton/Lynouth are both very attractive towns in such a wonderful location. We found this part of Devon to be a most glorious place. Scenic, fresh air, sunshine every day, history, cliffs, chocolate box villages, Exmoor, wild ponies, beautiful drives, friendly people, and not a McDonalds or any other familiar American establishment in sight! Thank God!
If you read this, Debbie, I want to thank you again for treating Joey and me like family. Sorry I'm so late with this review. Say hello to your husband and son. Big hugs from both of us! We will return again someday.
PS: remind your son to find us on Facebook!

Stayed three nights from Boxing Day and had a lovely break. At the risk of repeating what others before me have said this is a little gem. Perfect location, the most friendly owner, Debbie, you will meet anywhere, comfortable clean room with super views, excellent breakfast and well stocked honesty bar. What more do you want? We have stayed in the area many times but this was our first time at Sinai. I'm confident it won't be our last.

Room Tip: Our room was very good with a newly refurbished en-suite but other rooms we peeped into all looked g...

In our travels this year, we have been very fortunate to stay at two outstanding hotels. One in the north of Scotland and this one. Both were comfortable, clean and good value but so were some of the others we have stayed at. The thing that made both hotels outstanding was the customer service. As has been said in other reviews, Debbie and Nigel are great hosts for whom nothing seems to be too much trouble; very friendly but not intrusive. They are professionals in their trade and it showed in great breakfasts, an excellent evening meal that we had and advice on nearby attractions and facilities. We had a lovely break and are very happy to recommend Sinai House to others.

Spent a very nice weekend at this lovely hotel. Possibly the friendliest hotel I have ever stayed in.
Going to hotels always makes me nervous as I suffer with back pain and am therefore somewhat intolerant to bad beds. I needn't have worried, the bed was a dream. Everything was spotless and the breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. The decor is traditional, no trendy boutique hotel fashion here. There is a generous lounge with comfy sofas and a cosy bar, bit like a mini pub, for guests. The owner gave us directions for a stunning walk to Watersmeet which takes you over hills, through forests, across rivers, up a mountain and best of all, to a National Trust tearoom. Highly recommended. Would love to come again.

It's pretty difficult, if not impossible, to find anything to fault here. I booked this hotel on the basis of the favourable TA reviews and we weren't disappointed. I've checked-in to lots of hotels over the years, but checking-in here was more like being welcomed to a friend's house
We had a really comfortable room with sea views (weather permitting!) and the breakfast was excellent.
What makes this place different is the attention to detail and the friendly atmosphere provided by the owners, Debbie and Nigel, which goes far beyond the synthetic and insincere "have a nice day" type customer service that you encounter in so many places these days.
The hotel is well located for walking excursions - turn left and you are on the path to Watersmeet, turn right and and are bound for Valley of Rocks and the spectacular coast path. We just left the car in the (free) hotel car park for the duration of our three night stay.
For eating, there is a wide choice of options in Lynton - a short walk away.
I would not hesitate to stay here again if we are ever in the area in the future.
