“A long weekend at the Mount Batten Centre”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 September 2013

I was one of a group of Scuba divers on a long weekend diving around Plymouth. We had our own boat but made use of the accommodation, bar, and food in the centre and the dive shop, In Deep, for nitrox fills.

Rooms were basic but clean and staff were excellent and friendly.
Bar food was excellent.
Excellent value for money.
Dive shop was exceptionally helpful and always delivered fills at agreed times.
Top location for sea related activities.

I made arrangements for my brothers 40th birthday at the Mount Batten Centre. Being Ex Catering I was a bit fussy on requirements. I have used the water sports activities at the centre with my children and seen other functions taking place it was an easy option to hold the party there. We were only a small group so opted for the Bar upstairs to hold the event, The night went without a hitch and the food was great.I would like to thank the staff and the Management team for making the night a very special one. The price was attractive and well worth what I paid for even with my fussy needs.. Its good to know its not just a water sports centre and has so much more to offer..Thank You Team

If you want to learn how to sail, Plymouth has to be one of the best place to be. Thanks to the Mount Batten Centre, we can just do that.It is our third year coming to the centre. Our sailing course day starts at 9am and finishes at 4.30pm so by the time we are finished, we are very tired indeed. Therefore it is a big advantage to be able to stay on the premisces on a B&B basis. Not only our ensuite family room (double bed and 2 bunk beds) overlooks the harbour, our room also has a TV and an internet connection free of charge. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The bar on the 2nd floor has an outdoor terrace. It is open all day long and until 10.30pm at night. Food can be ordered and prices are very reasonable. The centre is also popular with kids as besides sailing activities, multi activity camps run all summer.Again these are very affordable. The centre is RYA accredited so you know you are in very good hands to learn how to sail dinghies or keel boats.

A weekend designed to get away and enjoy just the two of us after 24 years together.
Excellent almost from start to finish.
Ok the rooms are basic but we got a deal. £40 p night with breakfast.
Not the cleanest but then it was a case of who cares, everything else made up.
River taxi £1.50 is 5 mins away to city, we spent the day around the Hooe.
Lovely walks so you can leave the car.
Staff courteous and helpful. Full facilities for all and lots to do for the more energetic.

Room Tip: Go double for ensuite, nice big showers. But singles and groups will cope with the walk to the bathr...

After staying for two nights over the weekend I was extremely impressed, food is good. Incredible views from the room over the water and very accesible to the city centre also staff are fantastic and willing to help with any enquiries I had well worth the affordable price the centre ask for. Would reccomend to anyone that doesnt want to stay in the loud busy city centre and will use this place anytime I need to stay In plymouth!

Having not used a Powerboat before I approached the course with reservations? I should not have worried. The instructors were friendly and relaxed. You were one of 3 in a RIB with an instructor who worked with you through out the week-end. You had plenty of time to practise and get a handle on the technical skill against the wind and tides. Using the Boat in Plymouth Sound was just fantastic, the views were fabulous and we had nice weather. The standard accommodation is Cabin style bunk beds, but at £48.00 for two bed and breakfast it is ideal. The accommodation was full which says a lot and It was only 30 seconds to the pontoon from the front door. As they say its location location. Thank you.

Room Tip: Two in a Family en-suite room gives you lots of room. Get the one overlooking the Cattewater... a fa...

The centre acts as a B&B for people participating in water sports. It is run as a charity and could do with a little more of a commercial/professional approach as given the location and captive market it should be a little gold mine.
Bedrooms are clean and bright the beds are suitable for teenagers not adults. The showers etc clean and servicable. Breakfast is generous but the same every day, scrambled eggs, tinned tomatoes, bacon and the ubiquitous industrial sausage complete with plastic skin ( gosh I really hate cheap meat!). For lunch you will have to visit one of the local cafes non of which are brilliant.
The bar has great views across the harbour and serves a decent pint.

Room Tip: Ask for one overlooking the harbour.
