“Excellent find hidden away in city centre”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

My wife and I decided we should experience a different restaurant in Plymouth so found The Mission here on TripAdvisor, which was only five minute walk from our hotel. Happily took precaution of making a reservation as with only around 50 covers it sells out pretty quickly.

First impressions reminded us of The Church in Dublin as many old features of building remain. Relatively small but varied menu with a couple of daily specials, prices very reasonable. We both opted for the scallops off the specials to start, which were perfectly cooked. For main course my wife had the mussells and I had cod on a bed of seafood and chirizo risotto. Risotto was perfectly cooked and I didn't expect prawns and a whole scallop as part of the seafood in it!

All in all an excellent meal in a lovely setting with good attentive staff, will certainly be returning.

“A must go to!”
Reviewed 22 April 2014 via mobile

Great food, great service and a wonderful building.
We were taken to the Mission by a friend who had found the restaurant by chance, when previously on a trip to Plymouth, she had been raving about the food so took us out for a meal and we were not disappointed!
Well worth going to and it's just a stone throw from Drakes Circus and the barbican.
The only thing to bare in mind, the food is all made up as you order so don't be in a rush and you will surely enjoy it as we did.

“Standards have been maintained since my last visit.”
Reviewed 18 April 2014

There is always concern that standards may slip at a good restaurant, but they haven't here. There is a very reasonably priced fixed price meal choice, which is well worth choosing. I just couldn't understand why such a good place was so empty on a Tuesday evening.

“Good but could have been better!”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

Very good ambiance, well decorated, good service. Went as a hungry group of six most of us had a burger which was a touch expensive for what it was, also been cooked longer than I would have liked so became quite dry. The starters were all very good particularly the garlic mushroom and the crispy squid. All in all would go again but not for a while.
