“Great room, easy access to ferry and friendly staff”
Reviewed 2 July 2011

We booked this hotel mainly for the closness of the ferry port but were not dissapointed. Our room was big and well furnished. The bathroom was very clean and had an exellent shower and also pretty. The evening meal was exellent and service could not have been better! The only let down was the breakfast! Some over cooked bacon and hash browns. Aparently they had run out of pastries, at 9.30 am!!
All in all a pleasant stay but maybe next time we will eat breakfast else where!

I don't know where all of the positive reviews come from?! Stayed here on my Wedding night and have never experienced a dump like it! Room smelt, bath and shower needed a good clean! Staff were rude and unhelpful!!

We chose this venue as it came up as a Groupon Voucher. I have to be honest and would never have thought of this hotel as a place for dinner, however I was very impressed as were the rest of my group. The food was excellent, every course was beautifully presented and served promptly, yet without feeling rushed. The waitress serving us was extremely polite and helpful. I would recommend this place for food and will probably be back again.

Stayed overnight to go and see a show. Plus points: Public areas are fine. Breakfast was really good. The room [311] I would not board a dog in. 1] Strange smell. 2] Dirty, stained carpet. 3] Well worn sheets with a [small] hole in it. 4] Paint and wallpaper peeling. 5] Mould on paint work and in bathroom. 6] lumpy mattress.
6] Furniture dated beyond belief. Owned by Best Western I expected more as we had just got back from Paris and stayed in the Best Western Opal Opera which was great and payed only a little more.

Grand building in a reasonable location, shame about the staff. The recepionist became surly towards me when she could not find my confirmed booking. Not much of an improvement when my details were finally found. The spacious bedroom was spoilt by questions of cleanliness.. Although the top bed covering looked clean the bed linen was crumpled and some long dark hairs made one wonder if the sheets had been changed. The breakfast ingredients looked atnd tasted cheap, disappointing at the price charged
