“Small, Smart & Satisfying!”
Reviewed 25 June 2010

We spent the weekend in plymonuth for a conference held at the Pilvillions! It was a perfect location as we were also close to the shops, loads of resturants and the famous Plymouth Hoe! Tom made us very welcome. We loved the breakfast and all of it's choice! But we also liked the bowls of sweets in the lounge and the fresh fruit that was there for the taking! The rooms were just the right size and the en-suite was great. My wife wanted a bath but as we didn't ask for one we can't complain!

thanks for a great stay and we look foward to staying next time our conference is with you!

The friendly + efficient service at this hotel coupled with excellent value for money + an ideal location in the town combine to make a stay both memorable + comfortable.

We booked in originally with 2 USA friends, who had to cancel (volcanic ash) and all the arrangements went perfectly. Our room was fine, all clean, good proportions etc., as was the bathroom. In fact, we were thinking highly of this town B/B and would still recommend it; BUT we found Reception not very helpful when we arrived off the ferry from France. It was 8 p.m. and when we asked about eating, we were just told about a pub or Chinese nearby. We passed the Invicta HOTEL en-route & noticed that they had a dining-room; though the kitchen by then was closed, THEIR receptionist tried 3 different places by telephone and managed to get us a table at one....need I say where we shall be staying next visit?
Also, next morning, obviously untrained staff serving breakfast and later, hearing an angry altercation with 4 residents about their bill- they had been to the Tourist Info' Centre to make the booking and obviously there was something wrong with the rate. It wasn't so much the altercation as that there seemed to be nobody actually in charge, just the lone receptionist. Perhaps the owners were on holiday??

Stayed with friends over the May Day Bank Holiday Weekend 2010. There was some confusion over our booking when we arrived but the Proprietor went out of his way to resolve it quickly and acceptably. The hotel was was in a quiet area of the city about 10 minutes stroll from the centre and 2 minutes from the sea views of the Hoe. It was clean and the food good. Rooms were spacious, well presented and comfortable. We were attending a large conference in Plymouth and we know of many people who paid far more at other hotels for rather less. We found the proprietor to be warm, friendly and thoroughly hospitable. Many guest houses tell you to 'make yourselves at home' but this was one of the first we've stayed at where we genuinely felt we could!

I would stay here again and recommend it to others. The room was spacious, clean, and tasteful, with a modern en-suite. For breakfast, the choice was good, and the food of excellent quality, cooked and presented to perfection. The service was attentive and thoughtful, but unobtrusive. The location is about 10 minutes walk from the Pavilions and city centre, and the garages are large enough for most cars; even my motorbike was welcome :-)

With a genuinely warm welcome, The Bowling Green is the best place we have stayed at for a long time. It is spotlessly clean, the rooms are spacious (as is the king size bed!) and there is an atmosphere of quality everywhere.

Breakfasts are served by very helpful staff and, if you are in a hurry, they won't keep you waiting. There is a really good choice, with excellent quantity and quality and we particularly recommend the Smoked salmon and scrambled egg!!

Parking is available at a nominal charge.

We are planning to return!

My wife and I stayed here for a conference at the Pavillions which is just a short walk away, as is the shopping and the restaurant area in the Barbican. The Bowling Green Hotel is clean, warm and welcoming and the outlook over the Hoe is wonderful. First class breakfast to set us up for the day and reasonable prices mean that this hotel will be at the top of our list should we ever return to Plymouth
