Stayed there with hubby this weekend. Hotel is clean and whilst small the room was well furnished and again very clean. The bed was very comfy! The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was of good quality for the price paid. The hotel is close to Plymouth Hoe and the Barbican.

I woudl certainly stay again and would have no problem recommending to others!

Room Tip: I would say try and stay away from the stair area.

I stayed for a couple of nights in The Grosvenor and have a mixed opinion. The hotel is perfectly located for the Hoe and the sea, with amazing views just a very short walk to the end of the road yet also close enough to the centre of town for shopping/railway station etc. The room was very well finished and appeared to be newly decorated and furnished in a modern style, the downside however was that the particular single room that I had was at the bottom of stairs up to the next level and everytime anyone passed it felt as if they were walking into the room. A thicker door to the room may help this issue. I also heard every word from the room next to mine and thankfully brought ear plugs which solved this problem until the following morning when I did not hear my alarm for five minutes by which time the people in the next room had been awakened and I could hear them complaining to each other. The bathroom was also a very tight squeeze although it was very clean and appeared newly fitted. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The breakfast was of a great quality and the staff were very attentive and helpful. It was also useful that they had sandwiches and snacks that you could purchase if you did not want to go out for food as solo travellers often do not. As a big tea drinker, the large mugs for tea were appreciated. All in all, it was a pleasant stay although nothing exceptional.

Room Tip: Single room at the bottom of stairs is noisy with small bathroom.

My second stay at the Grosvenor and another wonderful time. We stayed in a superior room which was really lovely, clean and great facilities. The hotel is in an ideal location for the Hoe and Barbican. Parking is very convenient too and at £3 a day for a permit you can't complain. The hotel staff were helpful with queries leading up to our stay and very accommodating with an early check in. The breakfast in the morning is also delicious. Would recommend this hotel to anyone and hope to visit again soon. Thanks.

Stayed at the Grosvenor last night. Booked directly with the hotel by telephone before leaving home, they couldn't have been more helpful. The staff are all pleasant and smiling, the room was exceptionally clean, the bed the most comfortable I've slept in for a long time. The breakfast, which is included in the price, was delicious and freshly cooked.
The only little gripe were the towels in the bathroom. I'm not a size 8, the bath towels are quite small, my hubby enjoyed the view! Also be aware, there are a lot of stairs, so not a place for people with mobility problems.
We loved it, fully intend to stay there again, and have already recommended it to friends.

I booked this hotel based on the Trip Advisor reviews, but was disappointed. On the good side, it is in a good location just off the Hoe and is clean. However, the rooms are sparsely furnished and everything is done to a budget, from the small bath towels to the cheap shampoo, to the poor quality furniture and thin carpets, to the breakfast where the plate is filled with cheap baked beans to hide the paucity of other breakfast ingredients. There is little customer service - I came in with a large case and brief case, and was not offered any help to get to the room: just given the key and told it was on the first floor.
As somebody else has commented, the sound-proofing in the rooms is poor so that I was 'entertained' by a couple next door who were clearly getting to know each other better...
The hotel provides a fairly basic accommodation service in a good location. However, I came away feeling that I might have been better served staying in a Premier Inn - at least I could have used the good nights sleep guarantee! I am spending another week in Plymouth shortly and will not be using the Grosvenor.
