I stayed here recently for a three night business stop-over, and decided against the likes of Travel Lodge, Juries Inn etc. The Grosvenor has recently been refurbished to a very good standard and it shows. The staff on reception were friendly and helpful. Rooms are set out in a higgledy-piggledy arrangement involving various flights of stairs up and stairs down, but I loved that, and I was fortunate enough to get a quiet single room along a corridor and up a short flight of steps.

The reception also houses a small bar area, and a comfy lounge, and snacks are available from a vending machine, or by ordering from the kitchen. Umbrellas are available for guests to use, which was a thoughtful provision, as it was raining when I subsequently left for an evening stroll.

The room was small, but comfortable and well appointed with tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, an iron and ironing board, and with spare pillows available in the wardrobe (always a nice touch). There was a plug available right beside the bedside table, handy for re-charging my phone overnight, and internet access is available - reception provide you with an access code.

The en-suite was clean (spotless) with ample toiletries re-stocked afresh each day. One slight gripe was that the water never got very hot, but it was adequate for an early morning shower (no bath).

Breakfast is served in the basement dining room - again very clean although slightly clinical room, with a large TV on one wall for guests' entertainment. I liked that, though others may find it annoying. There was a choice of around 4 cereals, fresh fruit salad with yoghurt, toast, jams, marmalade and a cooked breakfast available in a myriad of combinations, including a vegetarian option. Staff in the dining room were efficient and friendly, and orders arrived hot and beautifully cooked.

The owners have clearly put a lot of thought and effort into bringing their hotel up to a very good standard of accommodation, and this lovely little place would suit holidaymakers or business travellers alike, especially if you aren't keen on the large hotel chains. I would certainly use this hotel again if the need arises

The Grosvenor was a great find among the number of accommodations in the city of Plymouth. Well placed in the city of Plymouth making it walking distance to most places.

In the main, staff are friendly and the hotel was decorated to a high spec. The only slight disappointment was the decor of the bathroom which was perhaps perceived as the final phase of a decoration scheme.

Nonetheless, the bathroom as well as the rest of the accommodation was very clean and fully functional.

We stayed here overnight with my brother and sister-in-law. We were greeted by friendly staff . Our room (superior double) was very good, chairs and a coffee table were in the bay window, a nice place to sit for a while. The room was spotless as was the bathroom. The room had the feel of being recently refurbished. Breakfast was excellent and served by friendly staff. We were fortunate to be on the second floor and brother further up, the lack of lift was our the only fault we could find.. We will return

I stayed here last week whilst on business and was very impressed. I received a very warm welcome, the room was very confortable and clean and I had a great night's sleep. Breakfast was excellent and I will happily stay here again next time I am down on business. From a business point of view the broadband was great too, good speed and no drop out. Parking is easy on street and is free from 6pm-10am!

Well it is quite apparent in my humble opinion why this hotel has won an award. The room was clean and stylish, the staff attentive and polite. The hotel had a pleasant bar lounge area and the staff were attentive. Okay so there are no lifts to teach piper floors but a carry to room service was available if you require it. Location wise it was perfect right on the Plymouth Hoe and also close to the main shops. Definitely a preferred option to some of the bland multi chain hotels

Stayed here for two nights on 11th May - the hotel is very clean, the staff are very friendly and helpful and whilst my room was quite small it was spotless and had everything I needed. As I was busy through the days of my visit the size of the room didn't really matter. The situation of the hotel is perfect - near to city centre and only yards from The Hoe. Lovely breakfast too!

New, clean and comfortable hotel, the price is really good for the quality delivered. Rooms are warm and comfortable, not too noisy for being in the town. There is no lift and the breakfast is quite average.
