“Perfect location , clean and comfortable....”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

We stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel is an old building that has been recently renovated to a high standard. The owner must have put in a lot of time and money but the end result is excellent. Our room was a superior , it was a good size, comfortable bed , very clean. It is 2 minutes from the hoe and on our visit the sun shone every day so it was ideal. Breakfast was good and the convenience of a bar and 2 lounges for relaxing added to the experience. Staff were friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend.

I wasn't expecting much from this hotel but when we arrived I was really surprised by the finish, the decoration, the helpfulness of the staff and the small touches like being able to buy bottles of water etc. the family room was really spacious and comfortable for a couple and two separate adults I would absolutely recommend it

Having stayed at several hotels in Plymouth, this is by far the best. Our room was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and contained absolutely everything we needed. We had a great nights sleep and even though the hotel was busy, we didn't hear any other guests. Breakfast was cooked to order and there was something for every one. Staff were very helpful with our endless requests for directions. Great location too. Will definitely be back!

Yet another fantastic stay. I have stayed there twice in the last 2 months and yet again I wasn't disappointed on either visit. The first time I stayed they were extending into the building next door but any disruption was non existent. The staff as always were their most helpful. Rooms as usual clean and comfortable. What else can I say but if you are going to Plymouth and want value, comfort and a friendly service then go nowhere but here. No I don't work for them but would recommend this hotel to everyone on the proviso that I can get a room when I want to stay!!

Room Tip: I have not found a bad room yet but if you have difficulty in climbing stairs then always ask for a...

Just spent an excellent weekend at The Grosvenor. Cannot fault our room, very comfortable bed and bedroom and bathroom spotless. Fantastic cooked breakfast, best sausages I have tasted for ages! Great location for the seafront and for walking into town. Definitely a little gem, we shall be returning and very happy to recommend, I can see why it won it's award! A lot of thought has gone into your stay, help with your bags, spare umbrellas by the front door and the best part was allowing guests to bring their own food into the hotel in the evening and providing you with plates and cutlery....fantastic idea.

The hotel was a great find. The hotel is well located and walking distance to many attractions. The room was very well appointed and the bed was one of the most comfortable we have slept in on our travels...for that alone it gets a rating of five! Lovely breakfast and great staff. Parking can be a little hit and miss if you are driving. However the staff give a a concession voucher for the parking all day. Recommend to anyone wanting stay in Plymouth.

I stayed here recently for a three night business stop-over, and decided against the likes of Travel Lodge, Juries Inn etc. The Grosvenor has recently been refurbished to a very good standard and it shows. The staff on reception were friendly and helpful. Rooms are set out in a higgledy-piggledy arrangement involving various flights of stairs up and stairs down, but I loved that, and I was fortunate enough to get a quiet single room along a corridor and up a short flight of steps.

The reception also houses a small bar area, and a comfy lounge, and snacks are available from a vending machine, or by ordering from the kitchen. Umbrellas are available for guests to use, which was a thoughtful provision, as it was raining when I subsequently left for an evening stroll.

The room was small, but comfortable and well appointed with tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, an iron and ironing board, and with spare pillows available in the wardrobe (always a nice touch). There was a plug available right beside the bedside table, handy for re-charging my phone overnight, and internet access is available - reception provide you with an access code.

The en-suite was clean (spotless) with ample toiletries re-stocked afresh each day. One slight gripe was that the water never got very hot, but it was adequate for an early morning shower (no bath).

Breakfast is served in the basement dining room - again very clean although slightly clinical room, with a large TV on one wall for guests' entertainment. I liked that, though others may find it annoying. There was a choice of around 4 cereals, fresh fruit salad with yoghurt, toast, jams, marmalade and a cooked breakfast available in a myriad of combinations, including a vegetarian option. Staff in the dining room were efficient and friendly, and orders arrived hot and beautifully cooked.

The owners have clearly put a lot of thought and effort into bringing their hotel up to a very good standard of accommodation, and this lovely little place would suit holidaymakers or business travellers alike, especially if you aren't keen on the large hotel chains. I would certainly use this hotel again if the need arises
