“A Hidden Gem Well Worth Finding”
Reviewed 24 June 2013

We attended a wedding there, staying two nights. Rooms were clean and well laid out. They vary from the large and luxurious to former servants' quarters. Our party had a selection and each represented good value. The food was a of a high standard, both the mass catering for the wedding and the dinner the night before. Breakfast is a treat not to be missed. All was well presented by friendly and efficient staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The bar is well stocked and spacious. The wine list is limited, but has some interesting wines at sesnsible mark-ups. The grounds are extensive and it is possible to walk to the beach (20 mins). Be prepared to search for the hotel along some rather narrow lanes, but it is very well worth finding.

We had a wonderful night here last week. Gorgeous setting, a wonderful four poster room and free standing bath. The bed was so comfortable. Despite having just had 4 weddings they quickly turned our room around for an early check in.
The food was excellent and everyone was very friendly. A wonderful find. I will be telling my parents to visit as well when they are in the area.

My husband and I got married at Langdon Court on a beautiful sunny day and it was a truly magical day in so many ways.

When I first visited the venue over a year ago, with my parents, we all knew it had to be the one - it's so pretty and fitted the bill in so many ways.

On the day itself, everything seemed to run seamlessly. The food and drinks were all of a really high standard and we've had many compliments about that side of thing, the ceremony was relaxed and intimate and exactly how we would have wanted it, and everything looked really beautiful. We had exclusive use for the day and night and took almost all the rooms.

Our bridal suite was fantastic - really romantic - and everyone who walked in (the photographer, the bridesmaids, my parents) went 'wow!'. The bathrooms at Langdon are particularly beautiful, with lovely old stand-alone baths and garden views from the windows - lots of people commented on those.

The gardens were the ideal backdrop for our drinks reception and photographs, and the new lake really adds something as well. Everyone kept saying how lovely the venue was and we were so pleased we chose it - we couldn't have asked for better.

Room Tip: We heard good things about all the rooms, and they all have their own characters. The grandest ones...

We stayed at Langdon Court for a wedding. The building, gardens and general situation are absolutely beautiful. There was a misunderstanding about our room booking, but this was quickly resolved.
The food for the wedding (hog roast) was delicious, and the breakfast offered a lovely choice and was equally good and cooked to order.

Room Tip: We were in room 32, which is lovely and large, has everything you need, and overlooks the walled gar...

Me and my husband got married here in 2010 and have been coming back twice a year since (only twice a year because its a special treat wedding anniversary and valentines day) needless to say its an amazing atmosphere, beautiful rooms and grounds, delicious food and the best customer service.
We are always made to feel so welcome and not only was my wedding day amazing every single time I am made to feel like a bride.
If your looking for A wedding venue you would be silly to give Langdon court a miss you should at least go and have a look around I guarantee you would fall in love with the place.

Had a great couple of days here mid week, lovely weather helped.
We had a very pretty room looking out over the gardens and countryside. The breakfasts were excellent, selection of fresh fruit, hot food cooked to order was of a very high standard, real quality ingredients.
The staff were all very friendly, professional and helpful.
We had dinner in the bar one evening which was very well presented and served, food again excellent.
Would highly recommend.
Would agree with other reviewers that what this hotel lacks was somewhere comfy to curl up with a good book and a cuppa or a drink.

This is a difficult review to write because, in many ways, this hotel deserves an excellent rating. The situation - in beautiful countryside close to the beach and the excellent food being two reasons, however there were disappointments too.

We were attending a wedding (4 people) and staying overnight at the hotel. This had been arranged several months previously and, as we were travelling from Salisbury over a bank holiday weekend for a 2pm wedding we wanted to be able to freshen up and get dressed at the hotel. I was assured by email a few weeks before arrival that we could have our rooms by 12.30pm. It couldn't be any earlier, they explained, because they were full the day before and had to clean the rooms. This was fine, as it still gave us time to prepare, and it was agreed.

On reaching the hotel only one room was available and no record could be found of our request - I did still have copies of the emails on my computer. They made no apologies and said the other room wouldn't be available until 2pm! I'm not sure what condition it was in which would necessitate such lengthy cleaning!

We all had to prepare in one room. This was a "Superior" at £150 per night and I was surprised at its quality. It was right at the top under the eaves, which made it cramped and rather gloomy. The bathroom was so dark, lit by only two small ceiling lights, that the ladies had to do their make up under the bedroom window with hand held mirrors. The bathroom door also stuck and needed a very hard push to open and close. Generally the condition of the room and furnishings was poor. Later in the day we were invited into another guest's room of the same "superior" grading and it was twice the size of ours. I would be interested to know who decided on the standard of rooms as it was certainly not consistent.

Apart from this the weekend was pleasant. As I previously said, the food was of a very high quality and the portion size was good - even a bit too generous! Other than at reception on our arrival the staff were friendly and attentive. I would have preferred to give this a 5 star rating, as this was what I had expected but more attention needs to be paid to customer service first.

Room Tip: Avoid room 39 - or any room under the eaves.
