Description: Thriving cafe and carry out food facility in affluent inner suburb. Not that well known but generally full for most of every weekday and Saturday. Set on a busy lesser arterial road between a large prominent private school and a large state primary school in a thriving terrace of local businesses and galleries. Well above average service and food. Easily deserves a Tripadvisor listing given it's convenience and quality value for money.

Called in to the Sage whilst waiting for some work to be completed on my car. Quite busy at the time, ordered sandwich (cheese and caramelised onion), coffee and lemon drizzle cake. Order arrived promptly, and food tasted very good. Had two more excellent coffees and complemented the proprietor on their food prior to leaving. The cakes are home made, and delicious. Well done.

“Excellent, willing service - local ingredients, well-cooked and presented”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 September 2013 via mobile

Nothing was too much trouble for the lovely lady who served us breakfast with a smile. She did not normally serve food until she had help om a colleague at 9am, but was more than happy to prepare our breakfast before then. The food was locally-sourced (the excellent sausages were from the butcher's a few doors down), accurately cooked and presented well and with a smile.
Coffee was excellent, made in a large, Italian coffee machine and tasted exactly like the real thing.
The premises were the perfect mix of homeliness and hygiene and soon started to buzz when all the mothers came in for a gossip after dropping off their children at the school opposite.
Full marks all round!

Stopped by for a rest after a long walk as needed reviving and was glad to find this café. We only had drinks and cake but it was very nice. Service was good. Would stop by again next time passing.

“No complaints, just average.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2013

It survives. Seems to have been there for ages. I walk by most days. Always a few people in. Seems to serve mostly women who shop on Mutley Plain or this spur towards Peverell. Nothing to write home about when I've been in. Polite, characterless, medium priced. Needs something to lift it a bit.
