“Best Deli in town!” 5 of 5 bubbles
Review of Blue Bear deli - CLOSED

Description: Open since May 2011 in a modern bur narrow and interesting back street extending a fifteenth century lane behind an old pub and down at pavement level with high modern close flats and business buildings above it. Contemporary tasteful quaint maybe. We just came upon it while looking for the back entrance of a hotel. Only 150m from the nearest quayside. A pleasant busy little cafe dominated slightly by the extensive selection at the deli counter. Lovely place and almost unfindable if you don't know where to look or that its there. Perfect in quality novelty and appeal for a Tripadvisor entry.

The food is fresh, lush and lovely. The service is great with friendly smiles and the options are plenty. I go here all the time and it truly is a hidden gem.

“Great takeaway sandwich”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 December 2012

Great sandwich, massive with yummy thick bread, great value for money and so much better than a supermarket sandwich, I was offered the meal deal which meant that for only 25p I got a homemade cake as well, so sandwich, drink and cake for £4 which I think is pretty good considering the sandwich alone was enough to keep me going for the day. They take cards as well which is a bonus as that's one of the reasons I usually end up going to a chain.

“Small neat and friendly.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 November 2012

Not flash, no view, but if you are close by, this little cafe/mini deli does a quick good value snack. Closes a bit early but since they also do breakfast that's a fair balance. Very good hidden back street cafes are in vogue in this corner of Plymouth and Cafe Kiss is a good bet in North Street after closing time at the Blue Bear.

“Brilliant Deli / Cafe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 October 2012

Tucked away near the Barbican, well worth the short walk to it. The food was top notch, coffee and hot chocolate that me and my wife had were the best we've had in a long time (much better than any chain coffee shop) and the prices beat the chain shops hands down too.
Staff were really friendly and helpful - without a menu you can order from any of the fresh food they have in that day.
Also they have a good selection of antipasti style pickles and artisan products.
And the pièce de résistance was the signature "Bluebear cakes" - yummy blueberry cakes that are worth the trip alone!
We will definitely be back!
