After a stay at the Premier Inn City Hall in London in 2012 (reviewed on TA), we chose PI for this trip while in Plymouth and Dublin. Some of the same compliments and complaints apply, but with a nice twist. My criteria is healthy, safe, clean, good value. I expected that here based on my London experience and got it. The public spaces of the hotel are a bit cramped, but the room we got was large and modern, with a couch and very livable for two nights. A previous reviewer has complained about the road noise at the back of the hotel, but we found that closing the tightly sealed window pretty much took care of that. One of my complaints about London was that the shower was in a high sided bathtub with no grab bars and very dangerous for those who aren't as nimble as they used to be. Perhaps they read and responded to my review (yeah, right), because this one had a number of grab bars, but they weren't in the right places for getting securely into the shower, using the shower and stepping down safely out of it. I think these PI bath/showers are very dangerous. We'll see what they're like the next time we're in England (and not a problem at all at PI Dublin Swords, also reviewed). Not much to say about the free wifi; it's still as difficult, tricky and elusive as it was in London and would be in Dublin. My largest complaint two years ago was the impersonal, big brother computer check in, sans a real person to welcome you to the hotel and get you sorted. Maybe they took my advice in this regard, too. A real person checked us in, took care of necessary things when we arrived. That became very important the morning we were to check out while we were dealing with a food related illness. Desk clerk Simon was very kind, thorough, thoughtful. There was no problem in allowing one of us to stay in bed two hours past checkout time, and he did anything else he could to be helpful. Note to PI: I will always recommend your hotels based on my experiences with them, but remember that people, especially those dealing with the stresses and strains of travel, need other people as points of contact. Those London computers (which welcomed us at first with something like "You've arrived to early. Come back Later" ) can never replace guys like Simon. I highly recommend this hotel. Note: vent fan in the bathroom as loud as the motorcycles on the highway outside the window. We were never able to get control of it and I assume it was a maintenance problem. That's not a complaint in light of the other positives here, but maybe a problem that needs to be paid attention to. On to PI Dublin, Swords.
