Stayed in numerous Premier Inn's around the Country and the Hotel chain never disappoints. Excellent location near to The Barbican and Aquarium, free parking, room clean as a whistle, nice big flat screen tv which was nice, friendly staff, highly recommended.

fair value, basic accomodation, well sized rooms. easy walk to the barbican and all its many charms...great pubs nearby, incl the dolphin, an old fisherman's hangout that sells terrific pints...also runners can easily get from here onto the sw coastal footpath and run up the banks of the plym to saltram house, whiichh is a terrific and easy 12k to tackle.

This is a budget hotel - I accept that. But there are some basics that could be sorted easily/cheaply.

Biggest negative is noise - road noise at the back of the hotel and noise from revellers coming from the nearby clubs and bars past the front and back of the hotel. On the night we stayed this was compounded by some people upstairs arriving back at 1:00 and stomping around and "getting friendly" for nearly an hour before going to sleep. So noise from above isn't great either.

Windows need to be better noise dampening as does the inter-floor insulation.

Second is temperature - the hotel has no aircon and therefore relies on opening windows to deal with heat. Given the noise and a ground floor room this isn't practical and the room was very hot (as it had been in the previous year). There are blower units installed but they only blow hot. Surely these could be retrofitted?

Second time we have stayed here and both issues cause problems in each year. I didn't sleep a wink this year - "good night guarantee" wasn't mentioned on checkout and to be honest I was too tired to raise it.

Having said all of that the hotel itself is in a great location, with views over the harbour and walking distance to the National Marine Aquarium and the previously mentioned nightclubs.

Would I go again - maybe. The location is a huge positive....

Room Tip: Try to get an upper floor on the front - AVOID THE BACK AT ALL COSTS!

Stayed for 2 nights recently and found this to be a fantastic base for exploring Plymouth. The rooms are spacious, clean, and the beds comfortable. There was even a pillow menu! The staff were really helpful, providing maps and information and also calling taxis for us, very friendly. The only downside is that the bridge that leads to the hotel closes at around 11, so you either have a long walk back or a taxi ride if you leave it late.

We were promised king size bed in brochures and Lenny Henry certainly had one in the T V adverts. I am disabled and my wife and I were given a 4 ft 6 in standard which was completely inadequate. Money back no substitute for complete lack of sleep. Told by reception that king size beds had not been approved for Lockyers Key, but. One was found for us on second night.

This is a great little Premier Inn.
The location is perfect for a family break or an evening walk for the weary business traveler. The location is right on the harbour with great views from the breakfast restaurant just across the car park.
Have stayed here before and always make it my first choice of Hotels in the area. Cannot wait to come back for pleasure.
