Stunning sunrise

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 29 Mar 2017via mobile
Comfy bed and amazing views to wake up to. Nice and quiet (but we did stay sun-tues). Would stay again. Is kinda pricey for no breakfast included.
Few flakes of paint coming off the wall and light fitting fell down in the shower overnight. But overall fab place to stay.

A lovely old pub opposite Mayflower steps and close to all the nice eating establishments and the Hoe . Clean room and comfortable bed . unfortunately it is overpriced and Breakfast not included . This is on the main one way road through the Barbican - so don't expect sleep easily before midnight! What I didn't expect was the staff and friends making the noise at 12.30 am on a Thursday morning right outside and swearing . Before, they were trying to start a car on the quay that was illegally parked and had a ticket on it ( more swearing ) . So to some up - Nice pub, overpriced for room unless you are partying and noisy . A footnote to be wary off is the toilets and sinks use macerator which are very noisy too

Fantastic room, fantastic location, fantastic staff, fantastic pub and you know what... I had a fantastic time! Will definitely stay at The Admiral MacBride every time I come to Plymouth.

P.s you must try their famous crab sandwich, best in the south west

Room tip: Any sea front room

I stayed in Room 1 - a lovely single room ( most places would have tried to make it a somewhat cramped double ).
It's right on the waterfront, the views are marvelous , the room decoration quirky ( the best of shabby chic, although scrupulously clean ) but exactly right for the building. ( The en-suite shower room is spacious, modern and well designed.)
The staff were unfailingly extraordinarily helpful, dealing with my awkward arrival and departure times and very heavy luggage as if it was a pleasure.

Superb value for money - I recommend it without hesitation.

( It may be off-putting to some people that The Admiral MacBride doesn't offer breakfast. Don't let it worry you - there is a choice of dozens of places within 100 yards.)

Room tip: Room 1 ( a single ) is great.

Fantastic Location . But stay away from the twin room, Disgusting. Its a very low budget room for back parkers I kept being told when I complained . Drab Smelt musty. Couldn't open window very stuffy. Blankets no quilts. 16 Inch tv. Family had double room with sea view with 32 inch tv. Paid £150 for 2 nights. So how can a budget room cost £130 for 2 nights. Double rooms are nice .Would not have stayed here if I was not with family.
