Most Plymouth people may not know its here. Unless you use the rat run to avoid the traffic lights you may never have come past. It's an unusual spot. Right beside the apparently Elizabethan Merchant's House, looking across at the kicking out door of the Magistrates' Court cells and back across the little and oddly configured Sir John Hawkin's Square.
The pub is low key unless there is a good game on the TV or some group event. I have been to a couple of very successful birthday events and also called in when its been surrounded by mellow boozy groups spilling across the road to the benches. No hard sell here, just an easy going place.
