On arrival, we were greeted by Sue, who was very friendly. We were shown to our room, and given a map of the local area, which we found very helpful. The room was basic, but clean, with fresh linen and towels, and well stocked with tea and coffee making facilities, which was a welcomed sight after a long drive!!
Breakfast was excellent, with a wide choice of cereals, as well as the traditional full english.
The hotel is ideally situated, as it's a short walk to the seafront, and town centre.
We booked last minute to celebrate my husbands birthday, and throughly enjoyed our stay, will definatly be back next year, thanks guys!............Kelly & John Baleh

Room Tip: Our room was a bit noisy, as overlooking main road

We stayed here for 2 nights as a short break during the Easter holidays. Sue was a superb host during our visit and made sure we were settled well. The location was ideal for us, being within 5-10 minutes of both the town centre and the seafront. The room was clean and tidy and had everything we needed so we felt it was good value for money. The breakfasts, which were all made to order, were excellent and set us up well for our coastal walks. All in all, a good guest house which we'd happily use again if in the area.

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear are quieter, look around various websites for better prices, we saved £10 per nigh...

Gary and Sue, the owners of the Belmont, were fantastic hosts. They were warm, friendly and both excellent cooks (although I think Sue’s breakfast was slightly better!).

My room was clean and contemporary that came with a substantial stock of tea and coffee.

Ultimately, I came to Torquay to visit Torquay with my friends. So all I want from a B&B, really, is a bed and a breakfast in a good location. That’s exactly what I got but with finesse.

Next time I come to visit Torquay, it’s a no-brainer, I’m staying at the Belmont.

i stayed with my wife and 16month old daughter for a long weekend in february. from the arrival to departure we were pleasantly surprised. we were staying on a budget last minute due to cancelation. the owners were extremely welcoming and friendly, but not intrusive at all. the room was more than large enough for all three of us. our daughter had a wonderful time and as parents finding such good service on a budget is extrememly rare.
breakfast (included in the room price) was absolutely superb, and very generous in portion size.
the room was clean, surprisingly spacious, well heated (it was snowing outside the whole time), good t.v. and well kept and cleaned between nights.
the best part of all though, was the service. and the owners ability to maintain a proffessional manor and effective service, as well as making us feel very welcome, and adding to our enjoyment of our holiday.
we also had a noticably large communal lounge with large television and lots of couch space, (great for families, in the colder months).
the only and slight downside, was as always with torbays smaller hotels, was the tall and numerous stairs to the rooms. the only reason i didnt give a 5 star rating.
location was 30 seconds from the beach and seafront. 2 minutes walk from town centre, and 1 minutes walk from takeaways and restaraunts.

overall very well run and friendly. very couples and family friendly. we will definately be coming back with our childeren again and would highly recommend any families give them a try.

Room Tip: if you have small childeren try and get a first or second floor room as the stairs ar steep, althoug...

a few things let it down for us.

The temperature of the room made it very difficult to get a completely goods nights sleep- It was boiling! We left the window on and had the fan on and I found myself sleeping on top of the duvet for most of my stay however the noise of the fan added to my disrupted sleep and if the room was this hot during the winter I would hate to think of how hot it would be in the Summer.

Our room also felt like it was on a slant which was rather strange and the runner on the bed also had some stains on (not a problem because we just folded it up and left it in the wardrobe)-but maybe invest in some new ones or just don't bother with them at all as the bedding and towels were both spotlessly clean!

Despite these few niggles we enjoyed our stay, the B&B was in a great location, Breakfast was good and we had a wide variety of choice, the beds were quite comfortable, the room met our needs and the communual facilites were very clean and tidy (our room was non-ensuite)

Gary was very welcoming and attentive at breakfast-we didn't get the opportunity to meet Sue.

Despite the niggles I would return to this hotel but I would try and go for an ensuite room or one not quite so warm (so maybe one on a lower floor)!

Room Tip: The lower the better as heat rises!
