We have just returned home following a 7 day break at Derwent Hill. The apartments are located in a quiet area of Torquay on a hillside within a 20 minute walk from the habour and town centre (for the less energenic Torquay has good parking facilities so driving there is easy plus there is a good bus route nearby).
The apartments themselves are very spacious and have a well equiped kitchen. They were also very clean and pleasantly decorated. Our apartment also had a sea view (circa 1.5 miles away) which was very nice.
The heated outdoor pool was very good and on most days we had it to ourselves (it is open circa 3hr per day, normally 14.30 to 17.30). This was set in a very nice garden area where there was also a number of facilities for the children (swings, slides and football goals etc).
There is plenty to do in Torquay and the surrounding area.
We went to Woodlands Theme Park which is 30 mins away by car (this has water roller coasters, pirate ship, various other rides, indoor play area with drop slides and animals etc), on a boat trip to Dartmouth (£13 return in total for all 3 of us) which was a superb day out, on a boat trip to Brixham (£7 return in total for all 3 of us) which isn't quite as picturesque as Dartmouth but is still well worth a visit and Cockington Village (hall, cricket pitch, pub, art and craft shops, various other shops etc) which is within walking distance of the apartments and a must see.
Paignton is a short drive away and we visited the Zoo there which is a very good day out. Paignton also has a number of good beaches and we spent a number of evenings walking along the sea front.
Other things of note are the fish and chip shops in the area which were all very good (we tried a number and were never disappointed), the local fairs and Torquay itself which has a very good shopping centre
All in all a great holiday
