Reviewed 2 August 2010

The Hotel has an excellent location and has easy access inside, (lift).
The bedroom although spacious was shabby decor wise but very clean, and very good room service.
The bar and entertainment area including the dining room were very comfortable with plenty of room to relax , dance, etc.
The evening entertainment was enjoyable inc The Bingo all of which ended at a reasonable time.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and were a big bonus towards making the holiday a success.
We would return to this hotel again.

What can I say?
This is the real thing!
When you arrive, you will see this BIG PINK HOTEL and the first thing you feel is; THIS IS THE PLACE!
When you meet Peter, the manager, you understand why this is the place to stay!
I LOVE TORQUAY & KISTOR HOTEL

We've recently spent 3 nights in this hotel & it was a lovely break. It's just over the road from the beach & within walking distance to the Marina & town although the litle road train stops opposite & for £3 return you can take a ride instead. The rooms were cosy - not as spacious as the big hotel chains but comfortable & as you'd expect from a seaside hotel. The indoor pool was brilliant, open from 7.30am until 7pm and never crowded when we went for our morning swim before breakfast. We also used the outdoor pool at the Inglewood Hotel which was just a short walk up the road although that one was only open from 10am until 4pm, again never crowded. The breakfast was fine I thought, not self service - everything is served to the table. There is entertainment every night with Happy Hour in the bar from 8 - 9pm which is very popular.

Thank you for a very fair review. We are enjoying some very kind comments recently, due in part to the extensive changes to our exterior and refurbished lounge. I would like to thank all our guests for their patience whilst these alterations took place and also for some of the confusion concerning cream teas. The advertising of which was published sooner than expected and we were caught off guard.
We are now looking forward to the Opening of the Pink Fountain Restaurant. Thank you Margaret for your review and we look forward to your return visit very soon!

Just come back from a week away at the kistor hotel and had a very plesant experience. Hotel was perfectly situated with just a short walk to the sea front, and across the road from the golf, tennis and bowls. There was entertainment every night and it was generally very good. music from the entertainment could not be heard from rooms which provided a very quiet nights sleep. There is a very large bar which enabled us to find a seat every night. Great idea to be able to use the facilities of both the kistor and Inglewood hotels. The food service was incredibly fast and the food itself was excellent. Great facilities, including, jacuzzi, sauna, swimming pool, and pool table. The rooms were very clean and the hotel was very cozy. The friendly, sociable staff made our holiday a great success. highly recommended. will definitely return.

We were in Torquay for a 5 day break and were not stopping at The Kistor however we looked at the Tourist literature ( as you do ) for other places or deals to be had. I was taken by a fullpage advert in Whats On, The English Riviera and also the English Riviera Attarctions booklet for a buy one get one free deal on a "Delicious Devonshire Cream Tea".
We had a bit of walk and found the Hotel one sunny afternnoon, we walked in through the garden ( no guests to be seen). Into the bar/dining/Cream Tea area? ( no guests to be seen) and started to think we may be in the wrong place. Never mind, i wandered up to the counter area where two members of staff were. Despite being the only people in sight for some reason no one spoke to us for a few seconds. We were asked if we could be helped and i confidently mentioned that ai had a voucher for one of their delicious cream teas." I'm sorry we've run out!" The tumbleweed blew and silence prevailed.
I must admit , i was taken aback. There was no one to be seen. Did the Scone delivery man have an accident, did they only order 5 scones instead of 10, who had eaten these cream teas for they were no where to be seen. "We might have some tomorrow".
My first impulse was to laugh and look for Manuel bouncing out of the kitchen area.
Now i fully understand folks running out of things, I also understand that after reading a few reviews the Hotel seems to have an excellent standing with it's customers, however if you are going to market something specifically then surely you have to be a little more customer focussed than "we've run out". I was not going to write this until i saw a comment from the management saying that a previous reviewer only focussed on a small experience. My experience too was only a few seconds however in Business sometimes thats all you get to make an excellent impression. I can't belive i'm writing a review based on a cream Tea however just for a few moments it really was like Basil and Sybil.

I am very sorry that you received such a negative answer to your request for a Cream Tea. It is quite certain that we need to spend a little more time training some of our staff with regard to customer service.
It is true we have on the odd occassion become a victim of our own success by running out of our freshly baked, home made scones. We could i suppose cook loads up and freeze them down, but I am sure that you would agree they would not be so nice!
The Kistor has already served up hundreds of cream teas since Easter to, and I must presume here happy customers. I am truly embarrassed that you did not become one yourself.
I would like to offer you a complimentary cream tea, but you have unfortunately left the area. I can only apologise once again. SORRY!

This hotel is truely amazing from the minute you arrive the staff make you feel so welcome,we have four children and they where trulely looked after, they love the swimming pool, pool table, and the fact they can join in the activities in the evenings. this hotel is very clean and the food is excellent you wont go hungry hear if so they do snacks, also it is having some refurbishment which is just about complete which has just made this hotel really stand out to all the others.you couldnt get a better location its is a 1 minute walk to the sea and is directly oppisite the crazy golf and the beautiful gardens packed full of flowers and a lovely pond and also 2 mins away from the english riv center these arractions are ideal for familys or for the elderly.the night entertainment is very good with a differnt act most nights and bingo every night (look out for the bingo caller he is better than any other forget garla or mecca callers he's the best ever )and the prize money is good to.over all i would say this hotel has everything anyone could want .And my family can not wait to return .
