Just spent a week at Coombe Court - Accomodation, Food and Hosts Julie & Bill made this a really good break.
The Home Cooked Breakfasts and Dinners were excellent - cooked to perfection and overall nothing was too much trouble for Julie and Bill, we were made really welcome.
As the Title of our Review says you will be extremely hard pressed to find better in Torquay.

I wrote a review here in 2009 (the one with 24 people staying for one weeks half board). I am responsible for arranging a group holiday of around 24 every June, and have done so for ten years.
The one thing we have said we would not do is repeat a venue..we like to move on! However, following our experience in 2009 we have returned to this excellent hotel each year, and hope to do so again next year too! This in itself should confirm the very high quality, to say nothing of exceptional value, that Julie and Bill offer. The bedrooms..although very acceptable to begin with...are gradually being refurbised to a very good standard indeed, and the food, both for breakfast and dinner is good, traditional, fare, with plenty of choices, properly prepared and cooked, and served piping hot.
The lounge and conservatory are very pleasant indeed and 'house' us all together in comfort if we so wish.
And ..we can park our cars in the roomy car park.
In the course of weekend voluntary lecturing work for my church I have had cause to stay in hotels literally accross England and Wales, but large or small, 'budget' or expensive, none of them have impressed me more than Coombe Court does,
As a matter of interest, picking up a point made by a reviewer above, when I send out request forms to the group each year I do get requests for a bath from one or two couples, but many more specify a shower.
On behalf of at least thirty folks who have enjoyed Coombe Court hospitality together at least three and most of them four times over the past four years, and other couples who have visited at different times on our recommendation, my wife, Val, joins me in saying a very big thank you to Julie and Bill for making our work of organizing this party so much easier, and helping us to have such a lovely holiday in a wonderful area. See you next year God Willing! Mike Riley (Ferndown, Dorset).

Room Tip: Val and I have used four different rooms now, and all were acceptable. Balcony rooms tend to have sm...

Have just returned from a weeks holiday in Babbacombe Devon where we once again stayed at the Coombe Court Hotel. Compared with most of the other hotels along Babbacombe Downs the Coombe Court is a small hotel which is warm, friendly and homely. The rooms are bright, well decorated, comfortable and clean. The food is excellent with a good menu choice and plenty to eat. There is a lovely conservatory and sitting area to relax in and Julie and Bill could not be friendlier with nothing being too much trouble. If you drive down they have their own car park and if you come by train Bill will even pick you up from Torquay station. There are many amenities close by so if you fancy a break give Coombe Court a try - you wont be disappointed.

I found this hotel on trip advisor and as the reviews were so favourable I called in on spec just for a one night stay. The welcome was fantastic, shown to the room, which was perfect for what I wanted. Julie offered tea whilst she went to get the booking forms, which we drank in the light airy conservatory. The evening meal was excellent too, plenty of vegetables and first class service, The breakfast was even better, what a wonderful experience.

I recommend this hotel to anyone without hestitation and I hope to use it again when I'm in the area.

When we arrived, Julie immediately took us to the bright, spacious conservatory and welcomed us with a lovely pot of tea - which was certainly needed after our long journey. We discussed the location of various tourist attractions, Julie using her local knowledge to answer our questions, and within minutes felt like we were old friends. The location of this hotel is perfect. You can either stay local and view the many sights and attractions in and around Babbacombe or you can use the hotel as a base to go further afield - on one of the days, we had a trip to Polperro in Cornwall. The service at the hotel is second to none and both Bill and Julie will bend over backwards to make sure you have everything you want. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in South Devon.

Room Tip: Our room was number 9 and was perfect for us with a comfortable bed, and a huge modern shower room e...

Bill and Julie work very hard to provide a warm and sunny atmosphere. the decor is a little out of date now but spotlessly clean with all you need and very good breakfasts. Would be very happy to go back there.

This is the third time we have stayed at Coombe Court, Julie & Bill are perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are spacious and immaculate, as is the rest of the hotel. The food is very good, freshly cooked and plentiful. Looking foward to stay number 4. Graham & Sandra Bradley
