Booked into another hotel in Torquay but had to leave due to cleanliness and had no were to stay,we called into the Sherwood Hotel hoping and praying they had a spare room, to our surprise they did and what value it was a family room for £70.00 per night. This 60 + hotel has just been taken over by new owners who have invested loads of money into it and the parts that have been updated are to a good standard ,the room we stayed in was clean and tidy with fresh bed linen and towels, the staff and owner were very friendly and had plenty of time talking to us and making us welcome. There was a games room with full size snooker table and a gym that was free to use.The added bonus also was a good size car park and hotel bar with good seating areas inside and outside in lovely gardens.I think that when this hotel has been completely refurbished its going to be one not to miss, the sea front is only 3 to 4 mins walk away.

Me Myself And My Grandparents loved this hotel, we knew the owners very well and went to the hotel many a time, it was a comfortable and friendly atmosphere, it was in a great location, specially in summer with the hot air ballon and the beautiful park right across the road. Our dear friend Caroline (Hotel Manager) Gave us fabulous serivce, Thou there was no lift, The food was great every time as you can go back and fourth as many times as you like. And if i must say myself the apple sponge was most delicious, The gardens were beautiful and as a teenager sore myself exploring them and wandering down to the tea shop on a bright morning. Definetley a delightful visit to torquay, But in later months of 2010 it started to delapidate and fall to peices, even caroline said it was too much to cope with, The coach company sold out and they lost the hotel .. A shame ... But the hotel is now up for sale and will be going off to auction in 2011.

3 friends and I have just had a most enjoyable 5 days at the Sherwood Hotel. The staff went out of their way to be most helpful. One of the rooms was rather claustrophobic but there was no problem changing. This was thanks to Ian who worked very hard behind the bar most evenings. Restaurant manager Paul was great. He was always so cheerful and helpful. All his staff were courteous and pleasant and worked very hard. The food was always piping hot when it should be. We did not like the entertainment by Barrie B. Simon Rees was very, very good and got us all going.

We did visit this hotel around 14 years ago but we found on our return this year we were pleasantly surprised. The food was very good, service very good, staff exceptionally nice. All in all for what we paid - no complaints. Would visit again next year - value for money.

We first stayed in this hotel in 2006 and had a great time. Not in 2008
2006 2008
Clean well cared for Shabby, not too clean
Hot breakfast hot and plentiful Hot breakfast lukewarm and not plentiful
Service adequate Service mainly good
In 2008 I broke my leg and as we were on the top floor with no lift getting to bedroom was hard work. Staff did not help at all except one receptionist who was very helpful and one waitress was also brilliant as were the drivers. Resort was great.
