My husband and I travel a lot both in the UK and overseas. We stayed at Ascot house as our son was getting married in nearby Torre Abbey. Teri was extremely helpful as we had a last minute cancellation for one of the rooms. We stayed in the suite on the top floor which was very spacious. The rooms were spotless and it was so nice to have a jug of fresh milk in the fridge instead of those horrid little cartons you find in most places. Ascot house makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk through the door. Breakfast was delicious and the choice was the best I have seen for a long time. Teri was very helpful, especially with parking angles as we had a large car. We will definitely stay there again when we go to Devon.

Many thanks for your kind comments. We are really pleased your liked Ascot House Hotel and that your son's wedding went well! Getting married in Torre `abbey sounds perfect.
We are proud that your appreciated our hotel so much since, with your extensive international experience, it makes it tough to compete! We agree with you regarding the provision of fresh milk, which we decided upon due to our feeling like you. Not much trouble but well worth it, especially if you have a fridge in which to keep it anyway. We look forward to welcoming you again on your next visit and to give you our returning guests' discount.

This hotel is a lovely place to stay. The suites are large and tastefully furnished - nothing from IKEA here. We stayed in the Deluxe Suite with an amazing roll top bath and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Terri and Bernard could not do enough for us with Bernard even parking the car for us! The breakfast was lovely with a fresh fruit platter as well as the usual cooked, cereals, toast and yoghurt. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the town centre and sea front so is ideally situated. Would definitely stay here again. Was sorry to go back home as I felt like we had all been spoilt rotten all weekend.

Room Tip: All rooms are large and spotless - we had a good look at them all

We're delighted you really enjoyed your stay with during the August Bank Holiday weekend and that you appreciated our breakfast, of which we are proud and about which we take great care.
We also take great care of the way we furnish our suites, based on the principle that it has to be of a standard that we would approve of if we were residents ourselves. When things go quite, we actually reside in all our suites since we find it's the only way we can evaluate everything about them, down to the smaller details. This includes our sofabeds, which we want to be as comfortable as a sofabed can be... and, a propos sofabeds, the leather one in your suite was actually purchased from IKEA. Sorry!

We booked Ascot house as a last minute choice and were pleasantly surprised by the accommodation, facilities and location. We received a very warm welcome from Teri as soon as we arrived at the hotel. Our stay at the hotel was pleasant and Teri was very helpful and knowledgeable on things to do/ places to visit in Torquay. Teri made a delicious breakfast, catering really well for our vegetarian diet. The kids thoroughly enjoyed their stay at the hotel. We would happily recommend the hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Torquay.

Dear Tina,
we are delighted that you likes your stay with us and were pleasantly surprised by our accommodation. I think that you reflect what quite a few of our residents thinks when they arrive at our hotel for the first time and I think that it is due ti the term 'suite' being wrongly used by some; After our latest refurbishment last winter, we turned what used to be, before we purchased Ascot House, a 12 room hotel, into a 5 suites one. This means that every suite is composed of 2, sometimes 3 rooms, one of which being a spacious lounge which is totally separate from the bedroom. We feel that, for people on holiday or who need accommodation other than somewhere to 'crash in', this is very important. Thank you again for your kind comments.

We chose the Ascot House hotel as the pictures of the interior of the hotel really appealed when I was looking for a nice place to stay, also the previous reviews were very good and recommendation is always something to take into consideration, the welcome we received was very pleasant and both Terri and Bernard were so helpful once we had arrived. Wow was our impression on the suite we were given, both rooms had a TV , which was wonderful for my nephew as he could watch his own programmes, and the fridge in the room was also very useful and the jug of fresh milk for refreshments was received very well. The breakfast was beautifully presented both days and the lovely platter of fresh fruit was very much appreciated . I would definitely be very happy to recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to visit torquay, I will be back again for another visit in the future

Many thanks Vanessa!
It was a pleasure having you all and we're so pleased you enjoyed your stay. We try to be very clear and honest about what we offer as a boutique hotel (specifically not a luxury hotel) so we're pleased indeed to hear that you found your experience to live up to the expectations established by the pictures and other reviews.
We do hope to welcome you back again before too long.

We stayed in the luxury suite in the Ascot House Hotel. First impressions were that it was by far the nicest looking hotel in the area; the room did not disappoint either. Terri, the owner, had dealt with me right from my first enquiry and she ensured that our stay was perfect. The food they served was always beautifully cooked and they always remembered what we had previously so would check whether that was ok or if we wanted something different. The only thing for us was the sofabed as a second bed - our kids, at 11 and 15 could not cope with it; but that might be more them than the bed itself. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for nice accommodation in Torquay

Thanks so much sharing your experience! We're very happy that, overall, you enjoyed your stay with us and your time in the area. Yes, for families with older children - especially of the opposite sex - the sofa bed arrangement does need to be taken into consideration. We very specifically wanted to offer boutique home style accommodation (versus rooms full of beds for all), hence the sofa beds. And while we have fitted them with memory foam toppers for extra comfort, it is still a sofa bed.
For families with older children, the Sea View Suite is the best option as it has a day bed in the lounge as well as the small double sofa bed - so the kids can have their own sleeping space.

Many thanks for mentioning your childrens' experience as well as we're sure that many perspective families will find it very useful.

We chose Ascot House on the back,of the positive reviews here and it proved to be a good choice. We stayed as a family for 3 nights using the Gothic and Luxury suites and the Accomodation was excellent - the linking balcony came in really handy. Terrimandmher team are great hosts and made us right at home. Would definitely come back if we are staying in the area again.

Thanks Rob! We're really pleased you all had such a good visit down here. It was a pleasure having you. Yes, the shared balcony between the Luxyury & Gothic Suites works out really well and has been appreciated by several families and friends over the years. We do hope to be able to welcome you back again some time.
