“beautiful old england”

We had a lovely day, beautiful old England you feel like you have stepped back in time. We took a horse drawn carriage ride through the grounds which are stunning and very historical. A visit in the church is a must for any one that loves history. We also had a lovely cream tea in the weavers tea rooms with a very attentive gent who provided excellent customer service. A must to visit if ever in the area.

“Delightful place.”

We walked down winding lanes and found Cockington. Rose Cottage Gardens is a café/restaurant and when we went for a coffee there, there was a gazebo on the grounds where a live pianist was playing. It was so beautiful. After a wander round the prettiest village ever, we went to Cockington Court where there is lots of space to walk to the hall itself.

“Beautiful Village”

Stepping back a few hundred years. Lovely village of thatched cottages attached to a large country park. Nice shops with classy well priced gift rather than kiss me quick stuff.

“Fantastic time capsule”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2014

The really brilliant thing about Cockington Court and the park is the way in which it has remained virtually unchanged. This gives it a timeless quality. I remember seeing a documentary which featured Cockington in the 1930's and archive film from that time shows the area to be unchanged.
Only downside is the creation of new retail units at the back of the court which lack originality and look to utility. It has been several years since we last visited Cockington so we are pleased it has been looked after and preserved. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the rest of Torbay.

“Another lovely day!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 April 2014

As I said in my last review I would return and the first thing I wanted to do when arriving in Torquay for a few days was park our car and do the lovely walk along the stream to Cockington.
We were very lucky with the weather again so spent a few hours walking around the village and court, shops etc.
Of course we returned to Weavers Cottage for a cream tea again. It is the best cream tea I have ever had.
It is warm, fresh and served lovely with plenty of cream and jam.
It is lovely to sit in the gardens and enjoy it and the people that own it are very friendly and welcoming.
I would recommend a day out at cockington and make sure you stop off for an amazing cream tea!
