“Great Location and Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 May 2012

My wife and I stayed at this Premier Inn with my elderly parents, we all found it very enjoyable. The seafront is extremely close and its a stroll to the town for restaurants, the marina and the ferry to Brixham.
The service was very good, everyone was helpful, there is good car parking and the rooms are what you expect from a Premier Inn being clean, comfy and spacious.

Booked this premier Inn in January so on Arrival were a little surprised to be given a room on top floor of old building and then being told the Lift was Out of order .
However we climbed the steep stairs and found the lovely room with sea view and thought well a climb up two floors daily is OK as room was lovely .
But a even bigger surprise and annoyance was the next morning in the early hours we were woken by constant noise from outside and then delivery vehicles unloading into the Hotel .
After two night and being a 4 night stay we decided to complain .
I must say the reception were brilliant and went out of there way to find us another room . A room was found in the newer building and the receptionist arranged our luggage to be moved .
Very impressive and well done , our stay thereafter was great and the Hotel is in great location , as long as the rooms are not road side in old building because they are noisy.
The restaurant was ok with friendly staff and now they have self service breakfast it is better.
Evening meals tend to be slow service but guess the front house staff do there best and are friendly. As is often the case with these types of Restaurants it is the Kitchens that cause the problems which is a shame as the waiting staff do so well .
My only other comment is that as mentioned at beginning why after making a booking way back in January did we get shoved at top floor of a building that the lift was not working and the rooms suffer with terrible noise problems .I would have thought that as booking was made early premier inns could have emailed or Tex to say that lift was not operational .
It was not the fault of Premier Inn that lift was broken and it appears out of order for some long time . But being old building and a steep climb it is bad that guests are not informed until they are booked in and allocated room . Then mention is made which by then is a bit late..I am disappointed that this issue and the room noise cast a bit of downer over what was overall a lovely weekend.
The receptionist dealing with our noise issues was brilliant and actually solved the problem she is a credit to Premier Inns
My tip for anybody staying there is Check whether lift in old building is working and if you are allocated a room on roadside then look forward to noise early morning .

The actually rooms are lovely it is sad that the lift and noise ruins the stay

Room Tip: don't accept rooms in the old building which are road side they have a real problem with noise f...

Great location on the seafront inTorquay, very east to get to and lots of parking. Stayed for a night after going to the theatre and found the hotel to be very well located and very well priced. Rooms are modern and comfortable. There is an excellent bar and Restaurant attached.

The Premier Inn on the seafront in Torquay comprises the old original hotel building dating back to when I lived there in the 50's & a brand new block just alongside. We have stayed in many Premier Inns and for the price they "do what it says on the tin". This is not the case in the older renovated block where our room was small, cramped, over furnished but with insufficient space for clothes etc and at the top of 2 steep flights of cramped stairs, the lift was u/s on a Bank Holiday!!! Our so called twin was a double with a single added as what looked like an afterthought. We were not warned or advised of the choice of accomodation and as it was full we could not change. Very much not up to Premier standard and not worth the money charged for a BHoliday.

On the plus point staff were very cheerful, professional & helpful.

Room Tip: Make sure you request the new block

Stayed here for two nights in April. As usual fantastic comfy beds, spotless bathroom and the perfect spot along the prom. Great for walking on beach and we found ourselves stubbling into Cockington....lovely countryside walk signposted from seafront ending up in beautiful thatched village with an amazing craft area.
Downside of hotel was we were woken at 6 something each morning by the extractor fan coming on in our room. Turned the heating off, and the fan on zero, each evening, but was told it is run by the system in the building when it was built.
Don't believe this as we were in the newer part of the hotel.
No apology given.....the receptionist just agreed it was a nuisence!!
Not what I'd expected. And no 'Good night's guarantee' mentioned!1

The Premier Inn itself is everything you would expect from this chain of budget hotels. The staff are welcoming, the rooms clean and airy and the location excellent. BUT the Beefeater next door is a nightmare. Breakfast is good, a bit slow refilling and replacing the empty pots, but a nice selection of bacon, sausage, eggs etc everything you would normally expect, but the evening meals is another story entirely!! My husband and I took our granchildren for a long weekend and booked a table as soon as we arrived. We were shown to our table reasonably quickly but after that it was wait, wait, wait. We were undecided where to eat on the second night but the children were tired from the day out so we took a chance - this time we waited at the door for a good 10 minutes (along with many other couples) before being shown to our table. Our meal still had not arrived afted 1 hour and 15 minutes by which time the children were falling asleep at the table, so my husband complained and was told there were a number of large parties in so the kitchen was catering for them first, even though the chef could see we had child meals on our order, he still put our order on hold.. The manager assured us our meals were being plated as he spoke but it was still another 15 to 20 mins before it arrived, and believe me it certainly was not worth waiting for, it was dreadful. My advise - Premier Inn very good, but eat else where in the evening.

My husband and I enjoyed a very welcome and friendly break at the Premier Inn in Torquay. We had an absolutely enormous room overlooking a lake which incidentally was right on the seafront as well. We walked through some very exotic gardens in order to get to the Pavilion. The town is very picturesque and from there, you can take a ride on the Steam Train and visit the very pretty town, Dartmouth with its lovely harbour and Maritime College on the hill.

I should make special mention of the Premier Inn staff. They are without exception warm and friendly with a highly professional attitude, dedicated to making our stay comfortable. Thank you.

Room Tip: Very large rooms. They have great TVs but our room was so large we had to drag the sofa across to s...
