We chose this hotel because of its location close to the Princess Theatre where we had tickets to watch "The Mousetrap". The room was large and comfortable although the view from the window was over a flat rooftop. Because of its location on the sea front the hotel has the feel of a holiday hotel with lots of people wandering about in shorts and T shirts, sandals etc.
We had an early pre theatre dinner in the hotel and the food and service were first rate. We both had the rump of lamb which was tender and delicious.
The only real drawback we felt was the limited car parking -we were fortunate to find a space and were issued with a free permit, otherwise parking on site or nearby would have been expensive.

Room Tip: Rooms to the front of the hotel will have views but will be noisier.

Stayed here over the Easter weekend. The location of this hotel is fantastic - right on the sea front. I had been waiting to stay in this hotel for a long while (having previously visited Torquay, and spotted this place)
However, the stay had many disappointments. Firstly, the parking situation is terrible. My partner is a blue badge holder, yet we had to park in the council car park adjoining (which is a couple of hundred metres from the hotel).
The receptionist on check-in did not seem interested in the parking situation. At other Premier Inns we have been offered help with baggage, even when we have parked right outside. In this one they did not offer, in spite of parking hundreds of metres away.
The receptionist also rushed through the check-in, and did not follow the procedure. After a four-hour-drive, she spoke very quickly at me and I could not keep up with what she was saying.
She dwelled on the fact the place was full, rather than providing the requisite service.
The rooms on the website for this hotel are described as 'spacious'. However, our room was certainly not. Our room was very small, and terrible. the floors were uneven. While I appreciate this may add rustic charm to a character cottage, I don't think it quite goes with a Premier Inn.
The shower pressure and temperature in our bathroom fluctuated, which was not great. Also, the heating/air conditioning unit emitted a bad smell when switched on.
I did express all of my concerns to the hotel manager, and was refunded one of the three nights. Though I would rather have paid the full price, and not had these problems. After all, I am a very busy person, and this was my Easter break. I know it's not a four-star hotel, but Premier Inn do have standards. I do not really believe a refund on one of the three nights goes that far. I wish they had offered me an alternative room when I first raised my concerns, but they failed to do this.
At breakfast, the restaurant manager behaved childishly, and some of the staff were impolite.
I must say that house-keeping did do an excellent job, and could not be faulted.

Room Tip: Choose another hotel.

We had a lovely family room with a side sea view in the new building. Our room was immaculately clean, spacious and very pleasant. The shower was good and the bed comfortable. The breakfast was amazing, with so much choice and good quality too - and we are very discerning! All members of staff were very professional and extremely helpful and made our anniversary weekend a lovely experience
Top class!

Very bad nights sleep and not the regular comfy bed as normal and apart from the restaurant manager being very welcoming as we went in for breakfast the buffet style breakfast was cold, as I work as a chef travelling all over the country and stay in premier inn regularly this was very disappointing in Torquay. With all the beds in the English Rivera will be finding somewhere else when I next visit at the end of August.

Beefeater on site so the Breakfast in the morning is fab, Great view of Torquay bay, excellent value for money.....can't go wrong here in my opinion and everything in the rooms is as expected, we booked a family room and was pleased with it all as a stop over for our journey to Perranporth.
